  1. Woodburner has been lit for the last 4 evenings . Got a half load of logs in this afternoon to go with what I already had got up together myself. Got about 1.7 cubic metres now, should keep us going until just after Christmas. Might be able to top it up with a few fallen ash limbs from the side of the road , and left overs from Ash die back cutting .
  2. I can see the wood burner being lit this weekend if the charts are close to being accurate.
  3. First Mother in law would probably disagree with you, she reckons her broomstick is freezing at that time of year .
  4. Nice down in Cornwall near St Ives this week. Sea breeze made a difference. Noticed how much hotter it is at home. The road works on the A30 near Camborne are a complete nightmare though. We managed to get off and come back on the A39, but I pity anyone trapped in their cars in this weather though.
  5. Know what you mean, living in a Council House on the Mendips during the 60s /70's was bloody cold The living room was warm with it's coal fire, but that was it. We had a Woodburner put in last year. Worth every penny.
  6. Myself and the wife sat with blankets over our laps last night for the first time. Notice the evenings really starting to turn in now.
  7. Not too bad here today, a few spits and spots of rain earlier on, but quite nice at about 22 degrees in the sunshine. Hoping it picks up around the 4th of next month, off to Cornwall for 4 days.
  8. I find Thatchers Gold to be a good pick me up.
  9. Well this summer has been as about as much use as a plasticine pogo stick. The sooner it packs i'ts bags, and foxtrot oscar the better as far as I'm concerned. Here in the S.W it's been absoloute gash since the end of June.
  10. Shan't be sorry to see the back of this vile apology for a summer, and get into autumn, the weather will still probably be s,,te , but at least I shan't have any higher expectations.
  11. We're playing at a festival on Saturday, God, that's going to be a joy. Feel sorry for people who have arranged events etc naively expecting something approaching half decent weatherwise.
  12. Think that gets overlooked sometimes, we all have our moans about the current weather pattern, but for some, it's verging upon disasterous especially when you hope to earn your money in the summer to see you through the winter.
  13. Here's today's weather report from a rain and wind covered North Devon. "Summer my ar*e, it's f****n s**te" I just knew I should have cancelled, but no, stupid me, forever the optimist.
  14. Off to Cornwall for a week at the beginning of September. Hope to God this lousey weather has cheered up by then.
  15. I wonder if Spanish people sit down in the afternoon and watch a programme called "A Place In The Pi**ing Rain"?
  16. It's been like having all your teeth pulled without any anaesthetic.
  17. A few dry weeks around 20 degrees would do me fine. Not much to ask for even in our depressing good for f**** all climate.
  18. If this is supposed to be Summer, then they can shove it. Absolutely vile, about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
  19. 1976, the year I left school was nice, it seemed to go on forever. Not that I got to enjoy it much as I joined the Junior Leaders Regt R. A C . the week after I left.
  20. Went to our local Garden Centre today, they are flogging sets of Garden Furniture for around 2 grand a throw. That's got to be the epitome of optimism in this crud .
  21. I can emphasise there, if I didn't work outdoors I probably wouldn't get so worked up about it. But sometimes it feels like a right kick in the b,,,, cks when, after 3 other wet, crud seasons, you get nearly a month of this dross. I don't crave heat necessarily, just dry will do.
