    Quite...As there's so much uncertainty in what the models are saying, it would, IMHO, be exceedingly foolhardy for anyone to start making supposedly definitive predictions? What on Earth is wrong with admitting doubt?

    Not at all...It's just that the weather has the final say. The models are always playing catch-up?

    TBH, Nick, the GFS can try to 'eject' whatever it wants to wherever it wants. It's what the weather does that interests me.

    It's about 35 years' since I saw snow showers reach MK, from the Cheshire gap...But it does happen. Anything can happen!

    Any chance of drawing a line under this argument? It's snowing her and it's not snowing there...Last year it was the other way around. There's no such thing as a text-book cold spell?

    Aye, CS - but, as none of us can actually see them, what can we can we really say about what they might or might not show? Anywho, the GFS 12Z is now oozing out...And we can see that one!

    TBH, I find all this talk of 'hidden models' very reminiscent of the 'missing balloon-data' assumptions of old...So discussion of such entities is surely off-topic, and wondering just what they might be saying (assuming they exist) is pure hypothesis?
