Whilst you're sat at home behind your keyboard I'm an essential worker and a teacher I disregard no rules. Shush.
Oh bore-off and please stop spoiling the thread. I shut this argument down earlier if you took the time to read the post and you are keeping it going! Do not reply the argument has ended.

My location on the radar is showing heavy snow. We had 30 seconds of light hail

Come on folks.. this isn't the place for covid arguments..
I agree mate, it’s fair to say I have shut that one down. Well fingers crossed for anyone in the firing line tonight!

I meant done with winter ie/ throwing the tower in. And you really don’t seem to get that travel should be essential only wether it be by car or not. Frankly it’s people like you who totally disregard the rules is the reason why this region is in such a mess regards this pandemic. Please don’t reply as I tho I that totally owns this argument and I don’t want it to divulge any further and dilute the thread. The model thread is bad enough!

No one knows where your location is. No where is getting a good dumping right now, it's raining in most places across the region. Rather than being 'done', just do what most do. Get in the car and drive to the peaks.
Err no offence as I really don’t want to start something off but we are In the middle of a global pandemic and national lockdown. Going ‘driving to the peaks’ to find snow is hardly essential travel and could put others and myself at risk!

This is it for me ... the absolute end. Once again I am sat watching locations just to the south east and north of me benefit from a good dumping while it just miraculously Avoids my location. Absolutely sick of it now - wether it be being in the no snow zone in the great south west storm of 2019 or a once in a lifetime January trip to Scandinavia and the Baltic’s which turned out to be the mildest winter ever - I am done. I am convinced I am In a simulation. I am not rising to it anymore - I AM DONE!

According to the radar my location should be in the firing line for some ppn but I am VERY sceptical - but a few hours of even moderate snowfall at this time of night should give a cm or 2 by morning.
-
Another dusting here.... Really nothing spectacular. I genuinely wonder when I will ever see over 1cm of snow. It’s been over ten years now. For some reason this location cannot get decent depths it’s so frustrating.

If we are to get a cold spell its going to rely on a atlantic ridge and a trigger shortwave. Possible attempt at a ridge north via scandi. Something to keep an eye on during the 0z and wouldnt be suprised if a rogue GFS run churns out an easterly tomorrow.
As for now things are looking very choatic in terms of the output.
I agree, although I think it’s fair to say generally indicators are of no major cold or widespread snowfall on the way.

All indications are a return to milder wet conditions from the end of this weekend - I am not seeing any evidence of any serious cold on the way in the near future. Remember. Looking at charts for 1 week+ in the future is a total waste of time. B.C.

Great too see some realism in here folks - nice read people talking sense, I think I will spend more time here. In the short-term once we get this rather weak cold spell out of the way it looks like things will get milder (albeit not too mild) with lots of cloud and rain, as per a standard British winter.

I’m just wondering rather than having model verification stats, we should perhaps have poster verification stats. That way we can see who it’s worth paying attention to and who to disregard.....just a thought.
Yes! And also, as I have said a few times a minimum age requirement of 21 thus eliminating the children/ teens and allowing mature, adult (even potentially post-grad) people to post.

It’s hilariously entertaining as an onlooker, but people that are genuinely trying to learn about the weather it’s a disgrace and half the posts need removing. Too many armchair experts I’m afraid.
It is absolutely that I’m afraid. It had always been there, even 17 years ago when I first joined the forums but the ramping and fantasising is beyond ridiculous. It should be restricted to ceratain members and have a minimum age requirement... that would make it much better.

And it’s all starting to fall apart in the model thread as the children realise that we are not in for another winter of ‘63 . Got the popcorn out and finger on refresh - that forum really should be moderated better OR have an minimum age limit of 21!

Once again, for the umpteenth consecutive year not only have I witnessed other parts of the country get far more more snow than me, but also other parts of my own region. It is painful, such to the point I went to Scandinavia and the Baltic’s last January to experience a true winter only for them to have their warmest winter on record. Really have had a pitiful amount here once again, must be around 7 years since we had a over a cm of snow - simply ludicrous for an inland location. Nothing bites me in the forecast either.
-
Still not seeing signs of anything SIGNIFICANT and I mean significant for the most part of the region away from high ground in the next few days. Lower levels may see a cm or 2 but not much else.

You said this on Boxing Day in the NW regional thread
". Once again, any decent snowfall will be in the east, Kent etc the usual places........Anyway the punchline is the north west ain’t getting anything firing this so do t get your hopes up!"
9 miles SW of Manchester, only 20m asl, 5th consecutive day with snow cover.
In what was a very localised event! What exactly are you trying to prove?!
-
The beginning of the breakdown begins.....past experience tells me that more than anything else begins. Been here way too many times to even care! A brief cold snap yes, but nothing in terms of widespread snowfall ahead. Oh well it was entertaining at least! WE will never learn.......Happy new year folks!

Was going to bed but need to reply to this.
Your 1st sentence IMO all depends if we benefit from the SSW which is now going to happen in the next 5 days I believe
2nd sentence spot on we will loose the showers after Friday as the flow swings NE then East ( but not a cold Easterly)
Lastly don't wish it upon yourself you have your own opinion and thats fine its good to have debate without childish insults and stupid emojis I am sure if we benefit from the SSW and it turns significantly colder you will be posting happy posts
Now I need my sleep
Goodnight All

Don’t let me keep you up please. I have suffered a lot of personal abuse and borderline bullying, especially in the early days when I originally joined the forum in 2003 purely because I am not a snow ramper. My predictions and forecasts are generally accurate, and a large part of that is based on experience when trying to predict snowfall. The quality of the posts on model thread forum in particular has dwindled over the last few years in particular and far too many members are in fantasy land. IMO only a select few people should post on there and they should be vetted beforehand using a points system. This will filter out the **** is posted on there. There should also be an age verification for all members as the average badge of a lot of members seems to be around 13. Anyway have a good sleep xx

Still not feeling any excitement regarding any future weather. It will be cold and dry but generally no significant snow any time soon, sorry. (Awaiting childish emojis and replies from the children.)

And surprise surprise the forecasted snowfall for my location in the early hours had gone. Only for the 1000th time. Guys just stay away from me if your way in snow - I went to the Baltic’s last January find true winter weather - they had the mildest snowless winter on record. I was in a 10 mile circular radius I’m north Devon that received no snow in the once in a life time 2019 event. Does not help the depression believe me but I am that used to knock back after knock back i am used to it. I want to visit the North Pole but it would melt as soon as my feet touched the ground.

I remember the days of the bbc will it snow forum... there wasn’t much maturity there if I remember correctly ‘will it snow in’...........
Yes it’s just really frustrating whenever I make a post which goes against the fantasising Narnian type winter weather the children hit back with crying eyes emojis and such like. The maturity levels on the forum from a lot of members is quite concerning.
