  1. Lightning out to Sea here, big snow storm about to hit. We are going to be buried at this rate ?
  2. Deep snow here in Lowestoft, now starting to drift in the increasingly strong winds. Incredible scenery here and still snowing hard.
  3. Just been clearing 1/3 of the garden snow. Gave up in the end as there’s too much ?
  4. Hopefully it won't die out. I feel for the the snow starved inland, must be really frustrating to say the least.
  5. Yeah definitely, the North Sea is alive and kicking tonight. The beast has arrived As the winds pick up tonight I reckon these snow showers will penetrate further inland than the last 24 hours.
  6. It's snowing heavily here now. The sky is full of the white stuff tonight, dread to think how much we'll have by the morning .
  7. Got about 4/5” on the ground and about to get walloped again. Maybe I should have hired a snow plow from the local vehicle hire garage ?
  8. Recently lost power here due to a really heavy snow storm and associated lightning. Thick snow on the ground here now but thankfully power is back.
  9. Yes, the cumulonimbus clouds are shooting up very quickly to my E/NE out to Sea. Round 2 coming up soon. Bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
  10. GFS 12z about to roll out..... Lets see what it says about Friday and Saturday
  11. Well I’m enjoying this cold spell. Thunder and lightning last night, then a snow storm, -5C on the coast last night, more snow to come today, gales Thursday with minus maximum temperatures and prolonged snow possible Friday and Saturday.
  12. It is a lovely part of the World. We only moved here last year after living near Cambridge for 30 years. Looking forward to Spring now though and some beach weather. When you say 'final window' that is 24 - 30 hours of potentially heavy snow showers which isn't too bad for this part of the World. I'd be a little more disappointed if that's all that was forecast and we lived in the North Pole. I do agree with that and the prospects of some big convection later. All the parameters are there for some locally very heavy falls and associated lightning. Yes, looking like more widespread snowfall for Friday and Saturday so everyone should see something at some point. Going to take a walk to the beach Thursday morning when we have coastal gusts approaching 50mph, air temperatures of -2C and 850hpa temperatures of -16C. It's going to feel incredibly cold!!!!
  13. Longevity of the easterly cold spell. We are a little over 24 hours into this one which explains why some aren't able to build an igloo in there garden just yet. Reports of snowfall across our region will increase as the week progresses. It's what happens as cold spells take a grip and precipitation varies in location hour by hour, day by day. Anyway, going to take a walk up Oulton Broad later as I suspect will start freezing over with the incredibly low dew points. Sea freezing over!!
  14. -8C at 08:00 in our region on 27th February is very cold. What are you expecting -50C?
  15. With the sunshine gaining strength snow showers should move further inland during the day. These setups almost always deliver to coastal counties of Eastern England. Showers generally ease in intensity as they move inland as there is no moisture at ground level to absorb into the atmosphere. Inland will do better at the end of the week with the low pressure and more organised snowfall. Lots of large anvils shooting up in the North Sea at present. Bodes well for later!!!
  16. A good covering of snow here with the rarity of thundersnow last night. Widespread minimum temperature's below -5C this morning across our region with several stations reporting -8C. Potential for minus double digit temperature's tonight I suspect. What will become noticeable late tomorrow is the strong to gale force east wind which is going to make it feel absolutely brutal especially with -17C 850hpa air aloft. This will feel like Siberia for sure!! Anyway, looking forward to some more heavy snow and likelyhood of thundersnow later as big convection takes place out to sea. I feel sorry for the members that have had little or no snow, I can sense your frustrations coming out in your attention seeking posts knocking down this rare exceptional cold spell at present. Lets hope 'for us all' that you get some snow later, so we don't have to suffer to much negativity on here. LW
  17. Going to be snowed in before to long. A good 3 inches here now with drifting in gusts.
  18. It really did come down, just incredible. We had about 2 inches fall in 20 minutes. Photos to follow......... I'm trying to upload a video but it's too large sadly..... The lightning was toward Pakefield and Southwold so I think Great Yarmouth may have just missed the worst.
  19. Just scared the hell out of me!!! Was standing outside in the heavy snow shower, then a huge flash of lightning and loud thunder! Strange sound with the snow cover and sea near by. Big fat flakes here now.
