  1. Latest gusts suggest it's deepening rapidly which has been the concern regarding Arpege and ICON outputs. Maybe 65mph gusts a bit reserved? 75+ would be damaging
  2. I wonder.....Arpege may have this nailed. Whhhhoooossssshhhhhhh........that's strong Yamkin
  3. Thanks.......all the above posts are quality. Been tracking this system 44 hours since it exited Eastern Seaboard US. It has the potential to be really nasty here. Thanks peoples ^^^
  4. Maybe I'm being a bit hasty here then......lol. Love my severe weather.........hang on I'll pop my head out the back door.
  5. Comparing GFS latest run with current surface pressure plot the low is 4mb lower than predicted at this point. MetO will be watching this closely especially with a 200mph Jet-stream above.
  6. Winding up now...... https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observation/rainfall-radar#?map=SatelliteIR&fcTime=1516090200&zoom=5&lon=-29.53&lat=52.54
  7. Storm force winds across Lincolnshire and Norfolk if this come off. ICON very similar as is UKMET
  8. That's correct Eagle. Notice the angle is NW to SE rather than the current west to east. I think this is when we have a better chance of the Jet undercutting the high that is presently to our east. Increased chances of pressure rises pulling west from Scandinavia to our north. Result = bitter cold + especially snow nearer the lower heights to southern UK. Interesting week ahead for sure.
  9. Vigorous Jet-stream exiting the Eastern Seaboard States currently. Will be interesting to see how this evolves over the coming 7 days or so. Instinct tells me that the Jet-stream will head south into Spain mid-month with height rises extending to our north then northwest plunging the UK into the freezer with the highest risk of heavy snow in the south initially then the east. BV
  10. Clear, dry and cold here on the east coast with a brisk chilly wind. Nice to have some dry days to let the river levels drop. BV
  11. Sunday will be a cold and raw day across our region with the strong east. northeast wind digging in. The wind chill will be sub-zero.
  12. Sorry to hear that. We had six storms in one day last year. Quote in news “I don’t think we’ve had as many thunderstorms one after another like this before. We must have had six or seven and that’s quite exceptional.“
  13. This could go down as the warmest mid-Winter easterly on record. We won't get sleet on Chilterns with those mild uppers. Cloudy, damp and cold sums up these charts.
  14. Why is it bonkers......it's a valid model chart and the evolution is completely plausible. Because it's contradictory to the lot doesn't mean it's wrong.
  15. Maybe it's more because this chart doesn't show cold and snow which is what your yearning?? It's possible......we could end up drawing an easterly, then SE'rly then southerly by middle next week. Nothing is guaranteed however much you crave it. Anyway.... lets have the GFS 18z
  16. Certainly looking chilly over the coming week. Temperature's then recover to near normal with a nice southerly developing in a weeks time. Temperature's in doubles digits across the south.
  17. Thanks for that, I thought it was real . Clearly another 'fishy' video.......... Severe gales seem to be crossing the Irish Sea at present into Wales and the SW.
  18. 97mph - Now we are talking serious and dangerous wind gusts!!
  19. Yes noted here in Lowestoft too. A prelude to what's ahead.... going to be a bit dangerous tomorrow morning especially with the ground so wet. Won't take much to uproot trees after the recent high rainfall totals.
  20. Absolutely, more often than not these are damaging wind gusts in there nature when transported down from higher latitudes to the surface in convective storms and squall lines. Going to be a turbulent night ahead for many in England.
  21. Looking a tad nasty for the morning across most areas now with widespread strong gales and damaging gusts. I really think Lincolnshire and Norfolk will see some violent wind gusts around 9 AM tomorrow. Maybe this is Doris twin sister........the terrible two!!
  22. Increase in wind gusts on the latest GFS 12z for Norfolk tomorrow morning as storm Eleanor exits into the North Sea. Going to be blowing a severe gale around this area with damaging gusts I suspect.
  23. The latest GFS 12z increases winds further tomorrow morning across the north of our region. North Norfolk looks set for a fairly dangerous wind storm with widespread severe gales. This is going to be more like storm Doris I feel with a fair few trees downed and structural damage to buildings.
