  1. Have had a recent downpour just north of Haverhill Suffolk. The heaviest precipitation was towards Linton Cambridgeshire. Some rotation going on with this heavy downpour but sadly no tube today.
  2. It's keeping it's intensity so you will get what we have enjoyed, I'm sure :-). This cell developed west London 3 1/2 hours ago, pushed up through Harlow onto us. Paul Sherman enjoyed this storm a while ago in Great Dunmow. I reckon 02:00 for you ;-)
  3. The lightning is spectacular!!!! Constant flashing for a good hour..........a storm to remember!
  4. Plymouth looking good for an hour or so...... Sferics flickering away to the south. Webcam here of Plymouth lighthouse...... sit back and relax!!! Love it!!! BBOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM
  5. This footage illustrates just how powerful and dangerous Cyclone Debbie was!!!
  6. Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia bearing the brunt of Tropical Cyclone Debbie at present!! Proserpine, Queensland, Australia also getting some damaging winds!! The last 15 seconds of this one minute footage shows the strength of this cyclone.
  7. Rain has turned to sleet and snow!!! Now back to rain/sleet after some large snow flakes...... a very wintry mix!!
  8. After a bright dry morning and early afternoon rain is about to push through West Suffolk. Temperature's of only 2C in the west midlands behind this band of light moderate rain, so maybe a wintry mix for our area later. Convective showers breaking out near Lowestoft and NE Norfolk. Dew points widely hoover at or just above freezing. High Wycombe currently 2C.
  9. I really can't wait until we get our first blistering heatwave, the sooner the better!!
  10. A cloudy, drab and wet day in Suffolk. Temperature's dropping away now the cold front has pushed through. Hoping for some late afternoon sunshine in-between the showers. Current temperature 6 C. Winds light to moderate west southwesterly. 8/8 cloud with some showers about to sweep through followed by brighter skies.
  11. Small 4.5 earthquake in the Dominican Republic early today. Latest earthquakes.
  12. Shouldn't be to long now until the sunshine makes an appearance after what has been a really drab day with occasional outbreaks of rain. Some heavy rain/showers moving into the west of the region now with clearer cold conditions prevailing for a brighter late afternoon. Looks like most of the really heavy frequent showers buffeting Ireland and the southwest throughout the remainder of the day. Although I do hope to see a hail shower before the sun sets! On a plus side the ground should dry out from here on in as the dew points take a nose dive towards freezing level.
  13. Cold front moving through soon with some heavy bursts of rain. Latest rainfall Looking forward to potential convective thunderstorms later...... early afternoon.
  14. What I would do to be there experiencing that......wow!! Squall Line - Joplin, MO 2009
  15. Some snowfall surprises for a few I suspect from tomorrow afternoon through to Tuesday morning, especially those located further west across the UK where most of the precipitation will be being exposed to the Atlantic. Sub 528 dam engulfs the UK & Ireland Dew points at or below freezing With low heights, the cold atmosphere and ever increasing sun strength there will be some big wintry showers tomorrow late afternoon with rain, sleet, hail stones, increasing snowfall and thunder as convection peaks inland. Could be some decent coverings in the west overnight even to low levels!
  16. Certainly windy across west Wales, southeast Ireland, Irish Sea currently with widespread gusts of 50 - 70 mph. Wind. Recent gust of 75 mph Capel Curig.
  17. Thanks Daniel, it's good to be back posting after some years away from the forum. I was unable to login to my previous account so decided to open a new one. Anyway, the weather is not to bad here in Suffolk today. Dry, bright and feeling less Wintry than of late. It's nice to see the Met Office showing UV 2 28th February>. I think I'll sit outside at midday for an hour midweek and see what happens. Although I'm sure 9/10 C won't feel particularly snug.
  18. The jet stream looking strong next week with 200+ mph winds aloft, so the potential for another wind storm or two possible. Today's GFS 12z illustrates these..... Wednesday PM - Widespread gales/severe gales sweeping Wales & Central/Eastern England. Inland gusts 60 - 70 mph once again!! This does whistle through quickly though, unlike dangerous Doris!!
  19. Cloudy and breezy day here in Haverhill Suffolk. Not quite as mild as the west Country so feeling distinctly chilly in the gusty winds. An unsettled week ahead for East Anglia with a strong 200+ mph jet stream overhead. I do expect another potential wind storm next week, so will be watching the models with interest. Everything but the kitchen sink possible for the next 7 days with sunshine, heavy showers, thunder, hail and gales at times. No early signs of Spring this year.
  20. We are getting hit pretty hard in Haverhill at present with trees down, power cables closing the A143 near me and Haverhill High Street is closed due to a roof being blown off. It's wild out there!!! Reports
  21. Average wind speeds steadily increasing on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border. NW Wales bearing the brunt of the storm currently gusts approaching storm force. Latest gusts As the low exits the east coast later this afternoon I suspect parts of south Lincolnshire into Cambridgeshire and Norfolk to get some violent gales with gusts perhaps exceeding 80 mph.
