  1. That's wrong already. We have them depths now with a big snow shower about to dump a few more cm's......I'd watch the radar.
  2. Yes I noticed this a little while ago. Sferics off Essex coast a little over an hour ago. Snow is really heavy here now. I will add some photos shortly!!!
  3. Some heavy snow showers now heading towards Lowestoft. Look like the heaviest of the day on the way in 15 minutes and already have a good covering here now.
  4. Heavy snow showers in Lowestoft. Gusty winds from the sea blowing snow all over the place.
  5. Bang on the money there Paul. Light snow blowing horizontally in the strong easterly wind.
  6. Light snow now falling in Lowestoft. Gusty easterly winds and feeling really cold!
  7. Light snow now falling in Lowestoft. Gusty easterly winds and feeling really cold!
  8. Threatening clouds now out at sea off the coast of Lowestoft. Big white cumulonimbus clouds.
  9. Those members getting anxious about the end of next weeks possible snow event should relax. Not only are recent GFS/ECM outputs likely to change being so far out (T+120) but by then the UK will be entrenched in bitterly cold surface temperature's which are notoriously difficult to budge once established. Look at it this way. We will be starting with maximum surface temperature's (end of next week) at or below freezing. Every km ^ the temperature drops by 6.5C. 850hpa is 1.5km ^, so the temperature will be 10C less than the surface, so roughly -10C. Then add in this morning's less cold 850hpa temperatures for next Friday (+8C). STILL minus at 850hpa so from ground upwards the air will be sub-zero. It will still mean what falls from the sky will be snow........ALL the way up. NO rain. To add thickness levels will be perfect for some really heavy snowfalls. Anyway, we have lots of snowfall to nowcast before then...... pointless looking at the snow forecast charts from now on. Better off watching the radar and satellite for real developments or looking at the latest FAX outputs. Lowestoft Weather

  11. The infrared and Visible Satellite is picking up a big dollop of cloud moving quickly SW towards Norfolk and Suffolk coastline. I wonder if this has any precipitation on it. If you check the radar loop you will see how quickly its moving and growing in size. LW
  12. Latest Satellite Visible - snow showers making there journey towards the Anglia region for later today. Should be really interesting watching these develop further as the deep cold air interacts with the warmer SST's. A photo I took 10 minutes ago from Lowestoft facing east, northeast out towards the North Sea. I live a couple of hundred meters from the Sea with some good views, so will be taking some pictures through the hours and days ahead as snow gets close. BV
  13. The North Sea is stirring up now on the latest Satellite IR. Looks like plenty of snow here in Lowestoft next week. Will hopefully see some lightning/snow storms at times too. Met Office warnings of lightning near N.Sea coasts. Took a wonder down to the beach an hour ago and it was absolutely freezing cold with gusty winds and a rough sea. Let the games commence. The grass is green....... let’s play! BV
  14. Things ramping up weather-wise here in Lowestoft. After a crystal clear cold day the winds are now increasing some strong gusts, some low level fast moving clouds pushing in and it feels incredibly cold now. The wind stings your face and hands after only a minute or two....... all downhill from here! Bbbbrrrrrr
  15. I live in Lowestoft a hundred meters or so from the sea, the most easterly point in the UK and it is feeling absolutely perishing in the fresh east winds. With the severe cold temperature's not here yet I dread to think how it's going to feel here come mid-week with minus maximum temperature's, prolonged heavy snow and a strong east wind. There's going to be some amazing photo's from this area come middle of next week. I also expect the Broads to freeze over by Friday next week. BV
  16. Still needs to be watched..... I've experienced plenty wind storms over the years to know that when the pressure is still dropping with a very strong jet-stream above then not to be complaisant.
  17. More exposed I agree but this is developing as it crosses so one to watch. It's not that high to add, only couple hundred meters. Not a thousand meters......
