Torro highlighting the band of precip moving out of N. Ireland just now and heading for SW Scotland as having the potential for a tornado.
Edit: it's the cell further south in Ireland but since then the stuff near Belfast is looking more intense.
Wind gusts definetly increasing here but nothing crazy yet.

Congrats @Northern Strath!
UKV is looking dangerous, up to 100mph winds into the west. It then looked like up to 110mph (I think, hard to see scale on phone) across the western Isles and along the north coast... Not sure if it will be a red warning with the timing of those gusts but it has the potential.

Amber warning for winds, central belt and south just issued. Similar wind speeds to the existing yellow warning.

Yep, snow has turned to rain now but we ended up with a better dusting and had it for a longer time on the ground that Tuesdays front Roll on summer...

Last minute Snaw and ice warning just issued for much of the Central belt as those showers begin to head in.

This storm coming in on Sunday/Monday seems quite severe for there to be so few headlines about it? I know the MetO have a yellow warning out but it sort of seems to be creeping up on us, would've thought there'd be some downgrades in the models now but theyre sticking to it being quite destructive.
GFS and ECM don't look as bad anymore 70-80mph gusts, a strong storm which will cause some disruption but not crazy. UKV suggesting a squall line on Sunday night which would be interesting with those winds.
One to watch on Tuesday night too for the north.

I think I need to move further north... great photos everyone!
There are a couple of showers getting ever further south down the west coast and potentially heading into the Glasgow area and more likely further south into Ayrshire, one to keep an eye on for the rest of the day...

Aye bet that wind and rain won't miss
It's already an ice rink outside, at least that weather warning was correct! Some cool patterns on the car already, going to be a fun early defrost tomorrow.

Looks like the precipitation to our north going to miss us completely now . I give up. If other professions done their work as bad as the Met their would be repercussions.
Yep, models show that moving way east/south east, just the chance of a shower or 2 really so nothing to get excited about.
The models have been all over the place with this one over the last few days, I think Icon probably handled it best initially (I think) and one other model had the snow going south or north of the central belt and splitting.
Hope those in the snow zone are enjoying it!

I was right to worry about this the other day, it's currently raining here

More runs needed ! What’s strange is there hardly a shower getting through the central belt just keeps fizzling out. We were in the hot heat for a good event to. Looks like a non starter.
I think they will start to make it in soon. Quite interesting watching the radar with some light showers moving north east between the two bands. I would still hope that there will be more shower activity making it in during the afternoon... On the positive side, at least we didn't get the rain/sleet/snow mix that is over Northern Ireland as that would have been more annoying!

Yep, we are overdue a big named storm here, I don't think we've had one for years but we really don't want one that severe!

Light Snaw is on here with a fresh dusting already

Precip is intensifying around the skye area and a few showers building into Ayrshire now so I wouldn't give up yet.

Looking like a bust at the moment.... But UKV (just about makes it to glagsow area) and met office (text) going for snow mid morning getting heavier so we could still be OK...but as mentioned earlier even the early morning modelling is off a bit so who knows.

That would do!
15Z UKV is a bit too far south for my liking at the same time, but does have a second chance later in the day. (charts the wrong way round below)

What UKV run are you looking at, I can only the 03z on TWO?
This one:
UKV Model Viewer | Netweather.tv
WWW.NETWEATHER.TVMeto text forecast is pretty good, although it is for the whole of Strathclyde. I've also noticed the council are putting out a lot on social medial about how much they are gritting the roads in attempt to avoid the inevitable complaints tomorrow where people expect grit to be like molten lava.
"Tuesday:
After a dry start for most, sleet and snow will become widespread for a time, some heavy, with fresh accumulations. Turning clearer but icy at night. Maximum temperature 2 °C."

Arpege 12z suddenly has most of the snow missing for the central belt tomorrow morning or coming in later as sleet?. Let's see what the UKV says
12z UKV looks ok at least, 9am batch is still on although maybe a little further south than I would like but then there is a secondary system at 9pm which makes its way through the central belt. Both Icon and ECM take the heaviest precip either north or south so we're not much further forward...

We managed to get another shower overnight, it must have been that shower at 1am that was mentioned earlier. That has at least meant the ice rink has a bit more grip with the dusting on top!
Looking at the charts tomorrow still show differences in the positioning of the front coming in, UKV and aperge have 2 systems moving in with snow to start but rain on the back edge/low ground for western coasts. ECM has a widespread 2-5cm, GFS we hit the jackpot here but more of a chance of sleet/rain for low ground. Icon has a period of heavy snow western central belt and south but only just on the edge here... There is definitely still the risk of warmer air bringing a slushfest for the central belt south (and western coasts) so it looks like it'll be a nowcast situation tomorrow as this still isn't nailed at just 24 hours out!

Would be even better if an amber warning appears tomorrow. I think that low will pick a punch.
It has the potential and will make or break this spell for us, Glasgow rush hour with the chance of heavy snow on Tuesday morning... Then possibly back to rain and then snow showers during the day which will ice over at night.
Weds and Thurs now showing as snow showers on the meto app too.
Good photos and vids from those further north so far, keep them coming! - I'd love a week of endless heavy snow showers here!

We managed a good dusting of snow/graupel from the showers that made it to the central belt. I wasn't in to see it though, a little light snow on the way back up the A77. The snow has half melted on the road and pavements which is now freezing so that'll be an ice rink for the rest of the week now!

Between now and midnight I think for us. UKV now has a swathe of 90-100mph gusts moving into Ayrshire between 10pm and midnight... Just heard the first "whistling" sound from the winds here.
