I've had to chuckle at the BBC Midlands weather, showing us with the lowest temperatures as usual, when it's been obvious with the sun out all day, the temperatures around here will have been amongst the highest.

The ITV granada weather is even worse. Said it would be 20c here today. Yeah...at 11am...

    I wouldn't exactly say I expect extreme.

Fact is, even as little as 2-3 days ago, the forecast was extremely dry, sunny and low wind. Every time I look at the forecast, there's more rain, more cloud and the temps are declining. 2 days ago, Monday was forecast as 28c and sunny, now, 22c with wind, cloud and thunder etc.

Look, I'm not saying this is bad weather. I would have bitten your arm off for this last year, but you can't argue that it has downgraded quite a lot. Not exactly the lovely settled, warm and sunny outlook it was looking.

Temps have generally been 23C at their highest across country recently and people are complaining that it's too warm? Sorry, but that's just downright silly.

Got above that once or twice here. Anyway, its no more silly than the guy who claimed he puts his heating on if it drops below 18c. We're all different.

I wouldn’t say the humidity has been that bad yet either. I mean it’s often more humid in the winter than summer believe it or not - average around 80% I think - but you just don’t feel it with the cold. It only gets to be an issue in the summer when the continent heats up and starts sending moisture our way like the last few days & upcoming. The only bit I really hate is those hot nights that stay at like 20-23c....they are gross for sleeping in.

Can't have it both ways; you want hot days, you get hot nights since the muck is pulled in from dear old europe. When this spell started, it was warm by day, but the nights did cool. That has stopped however, and last night was very warm even out to the early hours. Not pleasant at all. Making the most of today before the muck is back with a vengeance.

Hmmm, euros nowhere near as good as GFS this evening.

ECM making much more of the trough, hopefully GFS can pull it off again, it did trump the euros recently..

The GFS's output graph has been more erratic than the rhythm line on an EKG...

Look at the last two updates.  Spot the (subtle) difference.

    Second clause, third sentence.

Yesterday's signalling the end of decent weather,  today's signalling the rebirth of it?

Considering what they were saying about the end of may not long back, for several updates, its no wonder the bbc dropped them.

    Excellent update from Exeter..

No sign of retrogression and a uk trough out to 2nd week of June.very happy with that update.

It wasn't long ago that the metoffice were forecasting a below average end to may. Seaweed and a farmer's almanac are more useful.

Well, that was a beautiful day. A trifle fresh at first, but warm enough as the day wore on. Cool enough at lunchtime to sit out in the sun, whereas yesterday I sought the shade.

"Fresh" won't be a word we'll be using for long. Looks muggy as hell from the weekend. Far too unpleasant.

Eh, the hottest temps modeled have been around 31C, which yes is certainly hot by UK standards but I wouldn't say it's very excessive. No doubt plenty of people across the country would enjoy that.

Each to their own at the end of the day.

on paper yeah. Factor in humidity and sun strength and its significantly higher. A lot would draw the line there.

I wouldn’t say it’s because people are never satisfied. Hot days lead to warm evenings where al fresco dining in the garden or pub can be enjoyed, without having to put on 20 layers of clothing. But the negative side of that is trying to sleep. Doesn’t bother me much as I love warmth but many in this country seem to have issues with it.

When you hear talk on the MAD thread of african air getting into circulation on top of what already's being modelled, then that says to me "never satisfied". I won't be biased; the winter hardcore are just as bad if not worse. But what we have now; 23/24 by day but cooler nights is where I draw the line between pleasant and too much.

And here, the high was 15C, it's now far too cool to sit outdoors for long and the North Sea muck is rolling back in as I type. Certainly no al fresco dining here today.

Not that I think 15C and sunny is unpleasant but it's not ideal either. Wanting more than that isn't unreasonable, is it?

Not at all, how about we swap patterns, you can have the warmth/heat and I'll take 15c. Win/Win. Give me a NW'ly and that will be the case.
