  1. Still thunder from the north, and the sun has come out again.
  2. I can hear more lightning than Real Time Lightning Map :: LightningMaps.org WWW.LIGHTNINGMAPS.ORG See lightning strikes in real time across the planet. Free access to maps of former thunderstorms. By Blitzortung.org and contributors. is picking up.
  3. Rain has stooped now, that was pretty heavy for only a red radar return. I wonder what the afternoon will bring?
  4. Despite the clag here, a streamer of sorts has set up over us already. Just moderate rain, and it's stopped now, but earlier than expected.
  5. The edge of the Cheshire cell is over me and it's swirling around in a very ominous fashion. Definitely some rotation going on.
  6. I can hear it from here, almost constant thunder from my SW.
  7. M602 past Eccles is partly flooded, and under the railway bridge in Stretford. That area had it very heavy for a good half hour, much more than here. I've got 15-20mm in open containers in the garden, that fell in less than 30 minutes.
  8. Bucketing down here, with thunder from all directions. Nice.
  9. Another weather warning for thunderstorms. I wonder if it will be third time lucky for me? We've missed even the rain.
  10. It's a bit early to call it a bust. Fingers crossed, for me too.
  11. Just a few drops of rain here, but we can see the cell over Liverpool flashing away.
  12. Fireworks for the weekend? This is 1800 Saturday.
  13. Decent rainfall overnight, about 9mm, and a few more showers coming through now too. My waterbutts are full again so I'm a happy chappie. Now can we have the warmth back please?
  14. It's feeling quite pleasant out in the sun right now, warmer than expected at 16 here.
  15. About 5mm so far here, which is a start, but plenty more is needed. This is my local park yesterday evening:
  16. To see the radar earlier it looked like we had some brief but decent rainfall, but it has barely dampened the ground.
  17. 26.5 with a nice breeze here. A Facebook memory came up to tell me it was 25C this day 10 years ago exactly.
  18. And where did winter go? Jan to now looks like October.
  19. -2C at MAN/EGCC at 4am. Browsing the archive data at Wunderground, that's the coldest May night since 1996 at least. My potatoes don't look too happy, scorched by the frost two nights ago and last night was worse. Hopefully my fruit won't suffer too much, it was looking good for plums, apples and pears this year.
  20. The fourth frosty morning of the working week here, that's better than anything we've had all winter.
  21. I'm on the Dublin-Holyhead ferry, got away just in time I think! Forecasting a force 6 at Holyhead by the time we arrive, much worse later.
  22. You can see how saturated the ground is from the river response: Yesterday's peak is from only 15mm overnight at Old Trafford, most of the catchment is urban Manchester and Stockport. Normally it would take double that to raise the Mersey that high.
