  1. I know there’s a thread about this topic, but it was either moved or buried a while ago. Seeing as it’s April, it won’t be long before we start turning our attention to thunderstorms. 2020 and 21 were a massive disappointment in my region. Here’s hope 2022 produces a couple of widespread events. My guess is late May or early June before we get a proper thunderstorm. And another few during July and August.
  2. I can’t wait, and I’m with you on that. I want a hot sunny summer, instead of long periods of cloudy dull weather which ruined summer 2021, and some of 2020 for that matter. Cloudy dull conditions seem to be a side affect of climate change during our summers.
  3. Yes, it’s very cold outside. I wish that cold wind would go away. Need it to warm up soon, at least to 17-19c.
  4. We still had the heating on last week, during the evenings. Still felt chilly after 4pm, despite the nice warm sunshine. 18-20c feels comfortably warm, but not enough to feel hot. And anything in the 15-17c region is still chilly for me. Mild for winter yes, but not for mid to late March.
  5. Some of us need to leave the heating on to keep the flat warm, and stop it from becoming damp. This is the problem we face in our current property. Still have the heating on now, and it’s very cold outside.
  6. I think 82 had some hot weather in early June, with storms, and more hot weather in early August, but it wasn’t anything special. An improvement on 80 and 81, but warm at times and changeable. 1992 started off nice and warm, but went downhill in July, we had a nice sunny May and June that year, and lots of thunderstorms. August was a disappointment. 2002 was very dull and dreary. We had some hot days in June, but it was a forgettable summer. 2012 was vile. Yeah I agree with that. But, it’s still nice to get some warm sunny days in April.
  7. Yeah, spring 2020 was lovely, but by mid June it was done for. July was poor, and despite august starting off hot, it was dull and cool during the second half. 2017 had a decent April to May period, but June was mixed and after the mid July storms, the rest of the summer was poor.
  8. And if September is very warm it spells doom for the following winter . I bet the odds will be against us if we are hoping for a mild winter next year, with prices going up. It would be Sod’s law.
  9. That wind is very cold, even in the sunshine. I was walking by the Thames earlier, and the windchill was raw.
  10. That was a lovely May. Just looking back, and going slightly off topic, I've noticed there were quite a few colder months during those early to mid 1990s years. Hmm, thats like saying the very hot last day of July 2020 made it a warmer month, which in reality it wasn't, after most of the previous 3-4 weeks being cloudy and very average or cool.
  11. May 2020 was one of the best, along with 2018. I couldn't tell them apart, although I think 2018 was a warmer one, with storms. Both had long clear sunny days.
  12. 2010 was quite cold and dull during the first half if memory serves me well. It became hot around the 20th or after that. I'll suffer a poor May in return for a hot sunny August, but even in a warming climate, this seems to be difficult to achieve.
  13. Feel better soon. I had it during the 30th December until January 2nd. Couldn't even enjoy that mild spell during the New Year, although it was a damp mild and nothing like the recent spell of lovely weather from last week.
  14. I don’t believe in the ‘May is out’ malarky. Some years, May is a better month than the following summer, but we don’t always get the warmer days. Another May 2021 would be a disaster for many of us, who will struggle to use heating. All I ask for is a steady spell of warm weather in the 20-25c bracket, not too hot, but not too cold either.
  15. I hope this cold weather doesn’t go on for much longer. We need the warmth now, after all the chilly weather since last October. Not to mention the fact, energy bills go up from today. It feels like minus 3 in West London right now.
  16. I think January was fairly cold at times. We had quite a few days in the single digits in London. And it was mostly sunny and dry.
  17. I can’t wait for us to get rid of this cold nagging wind. Was positively freezing in central London this afternoon with the windchill. Want the warmth back, with temps in the 17-21c bracket please, and nice clear sunny skies. Even 14-16 would be ok, but want it to be warm. 20/21 winter was a much better season for snow. It’s been a disappointing one this time round, but we’ve still had colder days here and there, and today is one of them.
  18. Think it’s time this topic is revisited and see how the predictions stand, as we fast approach the second quarter of the year.
  19. I don’t want an April 1981. While winter 2021-22 disappointed on the snow front, it still had some chilly days, especially after new year and into January, after the very mild few days. That being said, it’s now time for the warmth and sun. Cold snowy weather isn’t something I want to see, and as I type this, I’m greeted with a dreary cold day ahead and 12c at best. Not looking forward to seeing single digit days again. They can do one until November.
  20. May 2021 was pretty bleak, just like 96.
  21. 1996 and 2001 remind me of cold Aprils. I prefer warmer ones like 2020, as it moves us one step closer to summer.
  22. To me, the weather has been pleasant, but nowhere warm enough to walk around in a t shirt, or wear shorts. Theres still a chilly breeze in the air. While nice, I still need a light jacket and sweater to hand. Once you get to 4pm, the temp tends to dip. Me and a friend were enjoying a drink in a pub garden yesterday, but after a couple of hours, we were glad we wore our coats. It turned quite cold. We are not quite there yet for proper warmth.
  23. Lol it wasn’t last year. 2021 was a rotten summer in London.
  24. Yeah I agree. Winter had its chance, and we still had to tolerate many days with cool and damp conditions. I hope it doesn’t go back to the low 10s again.
