  1. Hmm, I think the ECM has become demented judging by the 12Z! What HAVE we got? Arctic front activity? Sure looks like it.

Massive upper trough covering most of the N Atlantic and UK, and how about that intense HP over N Canada!

It seems a bit of stretch to say the least for such an amplified development to happen from T144 to T240 - a mere 4 days.. If such a pattern did, by some remote chance verify, the resulting actual weather would be interesting indeed - certainly cold enough for widespread snow - and such a trough would take some dislodging.

I await with great interest subsequent runs!

    I agree.......

  2. swings and roundabouts...... gfs decides its not having, ecm follows few days later..... remember the models dont like high pressure over scandinavia/greenland that give us cold like nov/dec 2010..... and im not talking about uk's top model hehe.... no its all in the air at the moment, exciting because its so unpredictable..... ive enjoyed having cold clear air over us.... -6c, -5c and -3.5c last three nights....thick white frosts, sunny days.....lovely...... I hope for some snow at some point....dream of feet of the stuff, but its so rare in this country, down here at least..... anyways wigan vs man city to focus on before next models out so.....bye for now......

  3. 4.1c rain getting lumpier..... its definately cooler than expected here.... hoping but not getting my hopes up here.... evaporative cooling definately only hope here..... always remember in 1990s in isle of man when we had really heavy rain 9am, ground had lots of puddles, turned to heavy sleet 930am, by 1030 am heavy snow, by 12pm 4 inches on the ground, by 3pm 10 inches..... it was amazing..... wishing something like that would happen again where I live...... maybe january 2012 will deliver?

  4. Heading to Denmark 8th December.....forecasts confusing, one says 4c and haevy rain, other says 3c max and sleet/snow..... one even said yesterday max -6c by tuesday and heavy snow sunday/monday...these are local forecasts.... jeez thought uk forecasts were topseeturvee! hoping for at least a bit of snow....they are predicting a bit of a storm friday night though......23m/s to 32m/s winds..... (52 mph to 72 mph)....maybe with sleet/snow? too hopeful I think..... will update from Denmark over weekend.....

new gfs update favouring more snow than 12z run........ come on......all Im asking for is a dusting..... at least then I can say Ive seen snow before xmas......

  5. Apparently gust of 112mph (48m/s) recorded near Skagerak up north..... lots of damage.... many trees down and rooves off houses... my brother only had his garden umbrella broken and a smashed window..... but in his garden branches were shoved into the grass and soil like darts....he said it was very odd to look at..... reminded him of wood jammed through trees after tornadoes..... people were trapped in a train near Birkerod for four hours after hitting a tree.... Copenhagen port area flooded after high tides too.... round two later this week by the looks of things..... not as bad as 2005 storm apparently.....

  6. My brother said an hour ago on skype that scaffolding on nextdoor neighbours house is down and in trees..... he said its worse than winter storm in isle of man in 1990s.... wind has broken front windows in lounge/kitchen.... apparently town is really badly affected.... lots of trees down..... sounds horrendous....

  7. 140mph winds in Denmark.....

My brother in Birkerod 120mph winds, windows blown in, nextdoor neighbours scaffolding down.... power now out.... ferry has been grounded, apparently local shops have windows blown in, trees crushed local train at Birkerod station according to tv2 danish news.... jeez.... 140mph recorded in north Denmark.... yikes.....

  8. I am heading to Denmark 8th December. Looking like my going to Denmark is influencing weather again. Last year I was due to go to denmark on 2nd December.....couldnt catch train/taxi/bus as had 8inches of snow here in Faversham...... hoping not going to happen again.... stansted was open but my flight took off, M25 chock a block with jack-knifed lorries..... ooppps.... hopefully see some snow in Denmark though with those charts if they came off.... long way ahead but so little snow as of yet in scandi.... hopefully it'll be more seasonal through early/mid december.... eager model watching over next few weeks....

  9. Despite having some serious CB and soe angrty looking skies, the best we've had is heavy rain, not even hail.

This years storm activity (or lack thereof) can go can go get lost.tongue.png

Here in faversham had three hail showers the first of which laid on the ground, the second topped it up, the third was the heaviest, all three accompanied by lightening, although infrequent....just had a big flash and rumble and its tipping it down.....torrential rain.....
