I don't really like bashing the MetO but they are going down in my estimations.

Would not be surprised to see this move south in the next 36hrs probably bringing
Areas Manchester north in the fireing line for snow.

Hi CS.
Hope you are right but think we are running out of time now..

I'd expect the MetO to issue Amber or Red warnings for the region for damaging winds.. this will be dangerous

Convinced now that this region is cursed, the second price of a decent storm is now on the downgrade according to 18z.
I'm going to agree with you...
Yet when I was growing up as a kid in the 70's and my teens in the 80"s the winters did not seem that bad.
Something has changed and changed fir the worse

Remember, freezing level and temp will drop a fair bit during showers, especially where these become organised.
Dont give up the hope yet guys!!
We have the warm Irish Sea on our door step.. it's a killer for our region

Looks okay to me, dew points below freezing and dropping, uppers around -6 to -8.c freezing level dropping during the day to near 150m by evening and euro 4 showing a rash of showers.
Not sure on your location, but i assume NW England is from cumbria down to around liverpool area??
Not from here so unsure of geography of region.
Cumbria Down to Cheshire... could also add north Staffs in the region

Why is it when we are in the firing line it goes the shape of the pear. Another kick in the teeth for us...

The verification stats clearly show that the ECMWF, though far free perfect, is clearly the superior model. This is nothing new - well known for a number of years.
But since the ECM upgraded it's not been it's superior self.

ECM op was the first to pick up on this storm at T192, dropped it for a few runs in been though.
Junk was a bit Harsh.. but it's been poor.
Imho the GfS has outperformed it. Last night's GFS 18z has started the ball rolling with today's poor outputs and The Ecm is following.

Found this https://www.freemaptools.com/elevation-finder.htm so you can check your elevation and other locations.
I was amazed to find that Monks Road, Charlesworth, which I can see from my kitchen window is 379.2m or 1244ft where I park the car, thats 10 minutes drive from home. (150m)
Same for me.. I'm 198m yet 5 min drive winter hill is 444m

I’m flying into Liverpool Monday morning. Renting a car for an overnight work stay in Morecambe. Leaving Morecambe on Tues at lunch - I’m a bit worried about driving a rental in snow - would the M62 be ok to drive by lunch ... I’d imagine gritters will have been out and other cars during the morning would help make it easier to drive (that’s if I’m right in thinking that area between Morecambe and Liverpool is to be hit with snow?
you'll be reet..
