  1. The western side of it looks as though it is intensifying as it approaches?
  2. Got the cell moving slowly up from Oxford plus the cell near Wolverhampton, which is ever so slowly heading east? What would be the result if these two met up?
  3. I refuse to accept that this will be another Kent Clipper type scenario, with the models changing all the time. I think the best thing to do is to just watch the radar and see what happens. That big band of precipitation near Guernsey looks to be heading in a N/NNE direction, and is set to hit roughly the West and also the Midlands. I think there could be one or two surprises from this if and when it reaches here. Its finally brightening up here somewhat too..
  4. So seeing as there’s potentially two areas of interest - to the West and also to the East and SE, what’s it looking like for Central areas?
  5. A very imby post but I hope these track in a more northerly or even in a slightly northwesterly direction. Worst case scenario I can think of is it tracking too far east resulting in it being (yet another) Kent Clipper/SE event.
  6. Are these storms which are expected tonight elevated or surface based? Because there certainly hasn’t been any surface heating here as the sun hasn’t made one appearance so far today. Full cloud cover with the mist not budging one bit.
  7. Can’t see any action, if any, for the Midlands until tonight. Even then it could just be your bog standard rain event. BBC have even amended their text forecast to just isolated showers for this afternoon and evening.
  8. Feels muggy outside although it’s been misty all morning and it doesn’t look like it will lift anytime soon. Im doubtful the sun will even make an appearance in these parts today.
  9. I wonder if that little band of precipitation currently near Poole will increase in size as it moves inland?
  10. A very heavy shower has just passed over here, almost felt like a flash of lightning was imminent, although no such luck so far.
  11. The radar may look uninspiring but its not even past midnight yet, so how can people already call it a bust?
  12. Looks particularly dull outside, for this time of the year and time of day. Clouds have a blue and yellow tinge to them.
  13. Forecast seems all over the place at the minute. For tomorrow (Monday), BBC text forecast has gone from ‘thunderstorms quickly clearing away in the morning, with increasingly dry and settled conditions’, to ‘a risk of thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening’. This is for the East Midlands.
  14. Apologies if off topic but just watched the BBC weather forecast and it looks like after high pressure takes place over the UK, low pressure will be creeping in from the west on Monday. Is this of any interest or is it just your standard wet weather?
  15. Is it safe to say it’s a bust for everywhere in the East Mids? Can’t see anything happening between now and tomorrow midday and they seem to be heading in the wrong direction too.
  16. Really hope that development south of Brittany takes more of a NNE turn. Otherwise its going to be (yet another) Kent Clipper by the looks of it...
  17. Been an awful year for central areas regarding anything remotely thundery and I fear we are too far west to see anything tonight.
  18. I’m hoping the storms extend slightly Westwards, so more of the Midlands and the north can have a better chance of seeing some action.
  19. If anything the rain is heading SW rather than NW, and dumping even more rain over the East Midlands?
  20. Between now and Friday, when is the next band of heavy and persistent rain due to arrive? Last night was quite a show, with heavy rain and howling winds for quite a while.
  21. Finally some heavy and prolonged amount of rain. Not too much hopefully mind you!
  22. Can't believe how little rain we’ve had today. Looks crazy down south.
  23. We’ve had nothing but light to moderate rain, on and off, all day here today. When is the heavier stuff due to arrive?
  24. Surely if these rainfall predictions were to be true, it’d warrant for an orange Met Office weather warning?
  25. Is the band of precipitation east of Peterborough, which is currently intensifying, of any interest?
