  1. Was only implying that the coast where I live is on average sunnier than London, which is true
  2. Then what other reason causes coastal towns like Eastbourne and Bognor to be the sunniest places in the uk?
  3. That’s true I’ve always thought that, whenever I get a train Into London I always notice when I get closer to London the cloud getting more widespread, and coming back on the train seeing the cloud slowly disperse to clear skies by the time we’re back on the coast, sea breezes and the South Downs close by are partly the reason it’s sunnier than inland..
  4. Maybe you should move to the south coast, it’s always sunny Down here
  5. It’s been pretty good on the south coast, lots of sunshine and temps regularly hitting 21-25c and even on the odd cloudy day it’s been humid so it at least feels warm, the only thing missing for here is heavy downpours and thunderstorms
  6. Currently 24.6c here with blue skies feeling very warm, patchy high cloud starting to come in from the north west now though, another nice day on the south coast been a lovely week off
  7. Don’t let last summer fool you into thinking all summers should be like that, your expectations of summer are like those in the med...
  8. Been a lovely warm day on the south coast, 23c wall to wall blue skies and a light breeze, only 4 degrees off Saturday felt almost as hot in the sun
  9. There is a lake there on the map but a lot smaller, could this be caused by the mercators projection where on some maps places nearer the poles appear larger than they actually are to make the shape of countries remain the same on a flat surface map?
  10. Lovely day on the south coast, been sunny all day with fair weather cloud here and there, temp 17c with a nice breeze
  11. Sunny evenings after a dull day to me seem like a bit of an insult from the weather
  12. But I also suppose you could have a years worth of above average rainfall and flooding and then 2 months of no rain at all which would be a relief then, where as if we had that now it would only fuel the drought
  13. A drought is caused by below average rainfall over time obviously.. but there’s a bit of a lag effect where even if we cross over into above average rainfall territory, the river levels and brown grass will not recover instantly
  14. The ground is still wet here with puddles everywhere after yesterday and everything is green, it’s not the bone dryness of the last couple of months, so those statistics almost mean nothing here as that covers a wide area and a long time scale, there are big variations
  15. Looks like this dry spell is on its way out, unless it already has for many places after yesterday and the next week or so..
  16. If that’s the case then what is normal? Normal is the 30 year trend... the 30 year trend will always alter whether it be global warming or not, there’s always going to be changes in the averages over years... I still don’t understand why we use an average of a time that’s been and gone years and years ago...
  17. It is looking likely to be fairly windy across the north with some rain (wet), so the forecast last week wasn’t exactly a mile off considering it was about 10 days off, the only forecasts that go wrong are the ones in a months advance or more...
  18. When using the 61-90 averages.. I wasn’t around during that time, but during my lifetime so far this has definitely been a chillier than normal spring apart from a couple warmer spells, constant northern blocking...
  19. Always decides to cloud over on my day off, still feeling warm at 17c with light winds and humidity of 54%... hopefully sun comes out again soon
  20. Haven’t had rain here on the south coast in ages, all the showers die out before they reach here, today has actually been quite nice here, Reached 14.6c and is currently 13.5c and fairly sunny while the rest of England seems to be cold and rainy...
  21. 21c and sunny on the south coast, by far the warmest day here so far by about 6-7c
  22. Long sunny spells with a few clouds around on the south coast, 11.2c but feels warm in the sun with light winds
  23. Anticyclonic gloom is by far the worst, nothing happens but cool cloudy still weather.. wet and windy weather isn’t good but at least there’s an element of excitement like radar watching and potential windstorms...
  24. Very windy on the south coast, surprised it hasn’t been named if the other night did...
  25. What confusion and a mess that would be, would that mean we skip a letter in the naming or have 2 different names for the same storm?
