  1. Does anyone know what the medium term models are looking like for September? Any sign of a return to the warmth & sunshine showing?
  2. No idea what's causing it but the heat looks to miss Wales again for the third time in a fortnight. Even so those temperatures are just about average for August but below in Scotland & western Ireland too.
  3. Well after the gales, rain & thundery showers last weekend here in the SW, there could be yet another deep low developing at the end of next week but this time in the east where it could be unseasonably cool too. Elsewhere doesn't look as cool, wet & windy (except in NW Scotland) but perhaps the temperatures below the August average under that low (IF of course it develops).
  4. Wow a proper breakdown this time for the SW UK, rain, gales and just look at those temps! Mid teens here in Wales on Sunday
  5. It's now looking increasingly likely that the next heatwave will miss Wales, Ireland, Scotland & NW England (a relief for many perhaps after all the recent heat) gone are the high 20's/low 30's and instead replaced with high teens or low 20's at best. More cloud is expected with some rain at times (decent rainfall in parts of Ireland & Scotland) but not a washout by any means in Wales in the week ahead rainfall totals on the GFS 0z but this could turn out to be the coolest week we've seen for several weeks
  6. Oh boy I like the look of that lovely cooler, fresher air in the west, in fact the west coast of Wales drops to 19C! Is it too early to crack open a bottle yet and celebrate the expected arrival of much cooler weather after all the recent heat lol?
  7. Thundery showers in the SW today and GFS suggests more to come on Wed & Thur too with high CAPE. That high pressure is a bit too far away from southern England which seems to be allowing the thundery lows in. Perhaps we haven't picked the best week to tour around Devon
  8. GFS 12z looks quite wet for the first week of July especially in the SW, parts of Wales along with ROI, a big change after all this hot, sunny weather we've had
  9. IMO, they are terrible model runs today for here in South Wales as it looks like we're getting stuck with a prolonged period of very warm & humid days and nights with a risk of thunderstorms every day for Whitsun week as the low doesn't really move anywhere. I can't stand heat with very high humidity as it plays absolutely havoc with my asthma, luckily I live near the coast so will probably be going in the car to the beach each day to feel the cool sea breeze and hopefully lower humidity too unusual I know but I'm now actually hoping for a swift return to the west to east flow in early June as hinted by some models to cut off this continental flow with all those thundery lows/ troughs
  10. Same with west Wales where we're going next week, highs up to 20C in Tenby so very warm for a coastal resort in May but unfortunately there's an increasing risk of thundery showers so might not be beach weather for me lol, Blackpool is great and there's much less risk of catching a shower/storm there next week. Enjoy
  11. The GEM keeps the high going next week but others develop a low which gets stuck across the SW/S and that could spoil our walking holiday somewhat around the coast of southwest Wales. However they all seem to agree on it staying much milder than recent weeks with the GFS showing 14-17C there throughout each day despite some rain
  12. Not liking this recurring deep low on the GFS next Friday, 970mb seems unseasonably deep for May
  13. Absolutely gutted with the GFS it's still showing rain/showers in west Wales from as early as Tuesday when my mate is over from Spain, looks like low pressure will just about be in charge again with the high only slightly too far away
  14. At last, a better looking forecast for us on the south coast of Wales, apart from Tuesday there's plenty of dry weather with some sunshine at times and so feeling a good deal milder after all that frequent cold sea fog this week which held back temperatures to around 10-12C. If correct then I'll be spending a lot longer at the beach
  15. At last, a better looking forecast for us on the south coast of Wales, apart from Tuesday there's plenty of dry weather with some sunshine at times and so feeling a good deal milder after all that frequent cold sea fog this week which held back temperatures to around 10-12C. 16. To be honest after last week's very wet weather in south Wales with some flooding in Pembrokeshire, that chart is actually looking much drier, especially around the coasts giving an indication that most of the rain/showers will be inland probably due to surface heating whereas the sea is colder than average so far this April.
  17. Heard on the radio in one of the shops in Tenby that's its warming up through next week with highs of 15C! Bring it on I say
  18. Some lush sunshine across Cornwall, if it moves northwards soon, we could end up with a decent enough afternoon for the rest of our long weekend break in Tenby even if it is cold
  19. Oh no my mam's literally just left Porthcawl to go and visit her brother in Maesteg, she said the snow isn't anything like what we had 2 weeks ago
  20. On a short break in our caravan, there's lovely sunshine and very mild in Tenby atm and with the MO snow warning only going as far as Llantwit Major, it would be fantastic if the sun would last through the weekend even if it does turn cooler
  21. Temperatures reached 13C in Porthcawl for a while before some torrential downpours arrived yesterday afternoon, that's very mild considering A: it's only March and B: the sea is now at its coldest which usually means the coasts are colder than inland. I just wish the low pressure that's been stuck to the SW of us since snow storm Emma would finally move away elsewhere to allow some drier Springlike days as I've never known such a wet first half of March
  22. Very mild today in Kenfig nature reserve, near Porthcawl with some lovely sunshine and not a breath of wind
  23. Back to the plain old rain in Porthcawl. I was really hoping the gales would have finally cleared with the snow but sadly that's not case, which makes it very hard to go walking and take photos before the snow melts after all it could be 8+ years before we see it here again. In my opinion it's these relentless gales that's ruined this snow event for us unlike 2010 when winds were much lighter. Temperature now 4C
  24. Having a stroll along the seafront in Porthcawl, it's still windy but the very strong gusts have eased off. It snowed earlier with some big flakes too but didn't stick much, now it's dry but cloudy. Temperature is 1C. Road is slushy in places but the traffic seems to be moving along well for now.
  25. 2C now near Porthcawl, snow melting a bit and it seems to be brightening up too. Might be all back to normal here by tomorrow as its expected to turn milder up to 9C by Sunday according to the forecast
