  1. Good idea, I'll send you my sandman photo from Porthcawl, South Wales in between the wind and rain next week
  2. Ah that chart takes us back to the plain old rain on the coast of South Wales, it showed snow (some heavy) earlier this afternoon
  3. Well we might be struggling to get snow in Porthcawl but one thing we can rely on is the gales, nothing 'marginal' about those so we have much more confidence of these arriving here surfs up!
  4. If the Scottish highlands are very cold and shown in dark red then what are those purples across Cornwall & far south of Southern Ireland? Little confusing for me as it looks like land temperatures will be warmer than the seas, something you'd expect to see from late Spring
  5. Just checked the ECMWF 850mb ensembles for Swansea and they look poor into Feb with nothing showing below 0C, oh the joys of living by the seaside
  6. Thanks ?? I noticed the westerly winds showing at low levels but didn't realise they'd bring such mild weather at this time of year as the Atlantic is getting towards its coldest, usually that's SW or S winds
  7. I'm not sure which thread would be suitable for this query.....Can someone help me please? That wedge of milder air moving across us on Fri/Sat, where exactly is the air coming from? because it's going to bring us an overnight low of 11C in South Wales, that's about 3-4C above the daytime average so very impressive for a January night.
  8. What a rollercoaster this winter is turning out to be from frost & ice to balmy temperatures by Saturday with an overnight low of 11C, very impressive for January... anyone fancy a bbq on the beach?
  9. that's true, this has to be the longest 10 days I've ever known, surely we must be nearly there by now?
  10. Mother Nature loaded her gun this afternoon but Porthcawl wasn't in the firing line!
  11. Well the rain has cleared through to leave some much brighter skies in Porthcawl but not impressed tbh as I was expecting to see at least a foot of snow on 'playa de Coney & Trecco' by now
  12. Yes some organised showers albeit of rain here on the south coast but sleet/snow further inland are showing for a good few hours tomorrow, is this about the time of any of those troughs are expected?
  13. Indeed, that'll certainly be a memorable St Davids Day that people will remember for many years probably here in Wales
  14. I'm not too surprised tbh as Derek did mention this last night.......
  15. Some heavy freezing rain showing up for parts of mid & South Wales on the GFS 12z
  16. Lol when Barry Island gets full there'll be plenty of room in Porthcawl, perhaps Trecco Bay will leave you stay in the caravans having said that, I'll be in Tenby staying at a friend's house
  17. Awesome ?? I've seen photos like that from the 80's with big snow drifts over cars in John st (the main shopping street) I was too young to remember though. I remember some decent snow around in the 90's and 2010. Last March's snow was good but melted quickly here
  18. That's a great snow map, is it from an app or a website?
  19. Same with me lol, I'm in Porthcawl so I expect it'll mean just the cold old rain for us especially as the sea is still relatively mild @ 9C lets hope February will deliver ?? that's usually our best chance followed by March for some years
