  1. Morning nick Was it a case of the models got the southward movement of the cold front plus the apearance of the upper warm front which kept a constant cloud cover which stope the convection down south leaving us in light to moderate only ppn?
  2. This spell has been exceptional for most not all, especially those who thought they were in the fireing line for snow ,but as nick sussex said in one of his posts yesterday it's shame the SSW came so late this time round ,if it had came in January it might have been even more impressive Better luck next winter for us all
  3. Maybe we should send these images to sky news, who have just forecast that apart from central and western areas the rest of us in the southern and southeastern areas have seen the last of the snow ,where as the fax charts show troughs moving close to the south coastal areas and by Monday night into Tuesday a cold front lying over East Anglia and the southeast with uppers still low enough for posible further snow I find their statement a bit strange
  4. And next up after this event ,hints of a cold Easter? ,not sure if I want any more, I'd like to see proper spring like weather after this classic event has gone
  5. I think we had about 3 cm last evening but the wind has blown it all inland, so could those who live West of me bring it back ,lol
  6. What's more impressive for the 18th March ,currently in St Mary s its snowing with 0 c dew point -1 Cvery rare
  7. Shotley Suffolk Hi tom I'm pleased to here the snow we had up here in suffolk did reach the London area in the small hours which I said would happen in one of my posts yesterday, though it seems the though or streamer that form yesterday evening unusually spirelled giving your area and southern counties their share of the spoils, still more to come today almost anywhere, a truely classic weather event for this part of the world for mid march
  8. Shotley, suffolk Hasn't snow ed much here since I put my head down for the night 5 hour's ago still very windy ,very cold in fact extremely, hints of something on radar to the east, nice to see our friends on the southern countries are seeing snow ,Portsmouth area I do believe, very rare down in these areas and in mid march ,a truely epic cold event indeed , Today is second of the 3 day cold snap,or beasty boy and still with temps still low for some snow action ,temps might creep just above freezing this afternoon before they fall away again tonight Lots for coldies to come today I feel enjoy ,I am and will
  9. Still coming down steady here, going to go out about midnight to check on the drift situation with the wind here
  10. Forecasting snow and where it will fall sometimes is never easy and that's without getting the accumulation amount right, this event might one of my all time best for march in my part of the world, a classic
  11. I get the feeling looking at the radar we have a small depression forming on that front that would answer why the ppn is starting to spirrel over suffolk
  12. The best winter for cold and snow in 6 years ,and yes its March but in my lifetime I've seen more snow in his month than in December ,I've seen more snow at easter than christmas, just because the calendar says spring it doesn't always happen in our part of the world ,this year winter is extended by another month, unlike the previous 4 where spring started in January, so yes we have to get on with it
  13. Intensifying here now ,still small flakes but more constant, I feel tonights going to be a quacker
  14. Latest radar to the northeast of me suddenly looking good ,will keep you informed of snow amounts in the coming hours
  15. Now getting more moderate here in Shotley suffolk, sky suddenly looks more threatening than it has here all afternoon Any snow here will move towards essex then london area
  16. What would be nice is the models to flip and move the high to link with the Greenland high by Tuesday or Wednesday
  17. After about 4 hours of little or no snow it's just started again here With still 36 to 48 hours of the posibility of snow time ,there's still plenty of time for better accumulation and with the wind snow drifting
  18. Constant snow here since first light ,only light to moderate so far, if theme continue s and the snow gets heavier then I will be snowed in for the second time in as many weeks, Up there with the best in my lifetime My location ,Shotley, suffolk
  19. We have a covering here from the band of snow moving south with as yet nothing much following on the radar Look s like the shower activitie at the moment is from the wash north Sky weather has just forecast has just shown it extending further south with temps remaining around freezing
