  1. Light snow has arrived in S Cheshire trying to settle on cars. Encouraging to hear snow reports over Merseyside/ Cheshire West
  2. Might catch something as it sinks south heaviest precipitation looks to be over the west of the region currently.
  3. Met Office have us down for a few hrs of heavy snow early tomorrow morning 5am-7/8am. We shall see I guess.
  4. Interesting to note that Flintshire in NE Wales has decided to shut all council schools tomorrow 10th March (Sky News) probably in response to the Amber warning they have there. The proper snow seems so close yet so far currently holding out a little bit of hope for something in the early hours into early morning tomorrow but intensity will be key. Just a covering would do me!
  5. Encouraging maybe a sign of colder air sinking south - still heavy sleet here.
  6. Crewe living up to its reputation when it comes to snow ️Sleet here 5 miles up the road nothing much better though still equally as wet!
  7. Yeah Shropshire particularly north of the county/ Shropshire Hills. We’ll see falling snow it seems it’s just whether it’s heavy enough to settle
  8. Think Stoke & Staffs will see some heavy snow overnight hopefully more likely to stick too given it arriving overnight. Main snow potential we’ve been watching in the NW has been as the snow in the north sinks southwards & intensifies 3-7am tomorrow.
  9. Great news! Think western areas of lower ground closer to Wales so Cheshire West/ Wirral/ Merseyside may see some of the heavier falling sleet & snow overnight vs here in Cheshire East so hopefully some of it sticks for you
  10. The heavier echoes over NE Wales have reached here - started as pure rain but now sleeting as the heavier stuff arrives with a howling wind.
  11. The Met Office & BBC NW Weather text forecasts are chalk & cheese for overnight tonight. Showery rain ️ with a bit of sleet mixed in (BBC) Vs Disruptive Snow from the Met Office you couldn’t make it up lol!
  12. Just back from work. Like most of Cheshire I had several hrs of wet moderate- heavy snow until lunchtime petering off into snizzle. Today’s daytime snow was never going to properly stick to low levels so it’s up to tonight to see whether we can get a covering no matter how slight that maybe. High ground so Peaks & Pennines should continue to do well @Chris.R how’s it looking on the latest WRF for tonight?
  13. Some areas of the Midlands approaching widely 6-10cm of snow now fingers crossed for later Snow getting heavier here.
  14. Moderate snow big flakes but not yet giving any covering apart from shed roofs!
  15. What do you think about tonight Chris? GFS gives low levels across the south of the region several hours of heavy potentially very heavy snow that ties in well with the further 5-10cm you flagged up yesterday as a potential overnight into early hours Friday. Tomorrow’s rush hour might be a tricky one?
  16. Yeah slight change in wind direction to a NE, forecast heavy precipitation might do it anywhere between 2-8cm depending on intensity as it’s after dark and will accumulate better like even light snow did across much of the Midlands once the sun went down yesterday.
  17. It’s tonight into tomorrow that looks potentially the most disruptive for lower levels if we get a period of moderate-heavy snow.
  18. V light snow in the lamppost light let’s see what today & tonight bring... Good luck all!
  19. Would love to be surprised but yeah during the day like today we'll probably see snow falling, it being heavy at times but just not sticking. It'll be the sink south of colder air and a pep up in intensity late night Thurs overnight into early hrs Friday that might give us a covering due to it coming overnight.
  20. Latest 18zGFS (the GFS to be fair was accurate in spotting the snow pushing further north today) would give even S Cheshire 5-10cm of snow when all said and done with a snow-sleet-snow setup tomorrow into Friday. We shall see. We will need intense precipitation during the day for it to properly settle at this low level though so best chance of accumalating snow looks to be as colder air sinks south again early hrs Friday.
  21. It’ll be typical NW England luck if none of it sticks lol! Hopeful of a covering later tomorrow into early hrs Friday as things stand but we’ll see.
  22. Yeah it might as well have rained! Maybe a slight covering tomorrow night into Friday is our best chance to lower levels of sticking snow?
