  1. Really sorry NI. Gut wrenching to loose any animal......and even worse for you because of the value of the beasts. The affect of weather in animals is a problem summer and winder. That includes wildlife too.
  2. Its a different world down south. Weather and culture bear no resemblance to life up here! This is not normal weather by any stretch of the imagination...... Suddenly gone very dark again......heard a rumble in the distance. The radar is building up nicely for more heavy rain. It is running across the country and just hitting Aberdeen howham! Was the calf ok NL?
  3. Nothing too dramatic on the radar yet Howham! Later in the day we could all see some heavier showers. We are waterlogged....... 14C and cloudy
  4. Indeed HC.......this is drifting down from the north and would almost certainly have given us snow during the winter. Sod's law eh!!!
  5. Agreed and i have a fair idea who was responsible for it! My Pond is full to overflowing...natural drain off so no problem.
  6. lots of rumbles this afternoon and a few downpours. Temps 13C and by the look of the radar more heavy showers to come!
  7. Sorry about my spelling error! Yes.......plenty for the visitors to see in the area, especially during the sunny spells (we have one now) I actually saw a couple of flashes followed by loud rumbles and but will have to admit sleep overcame me and I heard no more. Yes I enjoy a good thunder and lightening storm.....not so common up here. Used to see some stunners down on the South Coast. I remember a real cracker one Saturday in May 1970 it just kept bouncing around the Moray Firth area and gave spectacular lightning for around four hours. That type of severe storm doesn't happen so often.
  8. I am about 5miles from the Castle Stuart course and Yes.....thunder and lightning in the wee hours woke me up! Such a shame.....really bad luck that could have occurred anywhere in the country. I hope it doesn't put there organisers off for other tournaments in the future. 18C very mild with a lot of cloud still around.
  9. Aye Cheggers .......you are so right! Temps still up at 15C and flat calm.......been a lovely evening.
  10. I really don't know whats going on within News International......but there is an awful lot of flack going to hit David Cameron with the allegations against Andy Coulson and his friendship with Rebekah Brooks CEO of NI. They must want to know where and to who money is paid! It would appear he doesn't keep the best of company or choose his friends well. The whole lot stinks ......certain aspects of the press have the principle's of ally cats! Never bought the NoTW previously and certainly wouldn't now. Temps 16C , not a bad day for the Open Golf Tournament at Castle Stuart, at least it's dry.
  11. Thanks SS........ I might give that one a miss, although I am sure you are right .....I believe The Sunday Times ran an article a couple of years ago on garden snails being better cooked rather than tossed over the garden wall! Temps still 15C and showery
  12. This is exactly what i ended up doing. The sunken beer pots kept them under control. I eventually created an environment where we encouraged toads and birds which also did the job! No problem up here only the occasional slug appears thankfully. ps. Disposing of the beer with the drowned slugs was disgusting......
  13. Small world! i was out on the edge of Hereford on the Abergavenny Road! Yes you were in the Welsh Backwaters at Kington. If I remember rightly there was a nice golf club near there......not that i play. 18C and we have had a wee shower of rain.
  14. Hmmmmmmm I can remember going on a slug and snail hunt every morning when living in Hereford. A real battle between them and me! Roughly 100 caught around 5am most days. The little blighters were eating all my new plants when I was trying to establish my new garden and I wasn't allowed to use the pellets! I hate slugs and snails with a vengeance. Very grey and humid now with slight breeze.....temps 17C
  15. Darkish Clouds moving in from the South/South West. Rain for later. Current temps 15C
  16. Still sunny....and 24C. Forecast 19 or 20 C tomorrow but not so much sunshine........
  17. Wonderful post AWT. If I was your age I may have thought the same!! It feels as though it may have been some time since we had the pleasure of such warm weather! Lovely morning........warming up nicely. 15C and the sun is clearing the high milky clouds
  18. Wall to wall blue skies with temps already at 16C ....its gonna be a good un!
  19. Beautiful day at Newtonmore and Aviemore where i spent most of the day....ended up very humid. No sign of rain, so had to water my fast ripening strawberries this evening. Enough for a generous bowl with cream tomorrow. Current temps 13C and sky is clearing.
  20. A very pleasant day and evening here in Inverness too.....13C and a lovely sunset again.
  21. A stray who moved in a year before we moved north. (owner died) When she sees a suitcase open she wants to ensure she is not left behind lololololol. The Lump as she is affectionately known (she was huge when she moved in at 23 lbs) likes the warmer climes of England from hence she came. We have been back 8 years and she howled when she first saw the snow.....now hibernates most of the winter! She has cost us a fortunate at the Veterinary Hosp in Glasgow having had a tumour on her thyroid treated! She knew what she was doing adopting us........she rules the roost, obviously seeing us as a couple of soft touches. The most manipulative cat i have ever owned and i have had a few over the years..
  22. Want a Want a Nanny for your kids, I am a dab hand with sand castles and I could do with escaping somewhere warm too.... Lovely area, hope you all have a great time......
  23. I was at the Inverness Rotary event down at the Longman Marina and it was a much better day with glimpses of sunshine, at least it was dry. Now at 19C!
