I don't understand why you're constantly rubbing salt in the wound.

Fine , you live in a part of the world where it's easy to see snow, we get it. Good for you, but don't constantly brag about it!

It's like showing a picture of a banquet to someone that you know hasn't eaten in days. Why would you do that? I'm sure there's an Austrian weather forum somewhere,!

Awesome output this morning, temps should remain in double figures for the rest of the year and despite the south westerly flow RF totals aren’t looking too high. 1 winter month without a cold spell hopefully jan and Feb will follow suit.

What's so awesome to have double digits in winter !?! It's beyond me how people can appreciate this crappy weather

If the UK has the best summer weather in the world, why did the package holiday industry take off and why do so many people feel the need to jet off to the Mediterranean/Far East/Caribbean each year? A significant contribution to the UK being one of the worst countries in the world to be affected by COVID is the sheer number of people flying in and out, and the failure to close our borders when it could have made a difference.

Speaking about closing the borders, I am with you 100%. But we are off-topic here.

Going back to the weather... People go on holidays for various reasons: To experience a different culture, different food, different landscape, different lifestyle and so on. The weather is only part of it. Besides holidays are 1-2 week long. For 2 weeks 35-40 degrees could be (for someone, not for me :D ) a pleasant novelty. Month after month after month it becomes a nightmare...

Here in the UK summers are made up of cool nights, so you can sleep properly without suffering, and warm days where you can do all sorts of outdoor activities without even sweating or feeling uncomfortable in the scorching heat. What's not to like?

The UK has the most mobile weather of nearly any on the planet, boring it is not, trust me baking in those temps is a nightmare, i've been there and worked in temps nudging that, horrific. Give me the UK climate any day!

Absolutely, people have no idea what they are talking about. Having spent many years of my life in a much hotter climate i can safely say that, especially in a warming world, the uk has the best summer weather in the entire world.

Thought this wasnt possible anymore, prologned period of below average temperatures, with all this global-warming being rammed down our throats!!

Lots of head scratching going on in various companies at the moment

You have no idea what average means, do you?

On average the world temperature is increasing, that doesn't mean than in a small neck of wood, for a short period of time, temperatures can be below average.

    What's so hard to understand?

What can I say? I echo what others have said today. It should have been better. It's been awful. And I don't care how it comes across, it's made a thousand times worse by seeing so many other places get winter wonderland scenes. Now up to half a metre in parts of Kent. Kent. When was the last time we got close to that away from the usual high spots up here? A nationwide flop would have been much easier to take.

As P-M said, things are bleak right now, as we all know, and maybe that's why this hits home more strongly than it otherwise would have. Might be a good day not even to bother with the radar - not least because it also serves to remind you how much so many other places are STILL getting!

I suggest you don't worry too much about Kent. If it comes to snow on average we get 10 times what they get. This is an exception, not a rule

And when it comes to everything else (people, food, scenery, cost of living) the north east as always wins 100 to 0.

Another rubbish night. The reason people are disappointed is the way it was suggested this was a true beast from the east.  I will never again fall for the hysterical forecasts in the MOD thread. I'll stick to the metoffice forecasts and that's about it.

Lockdown, covid, the rubbish year we've all had, and this was something to look forward to. A few measly showers kicking  about in the North Sea but not even worth talking about.

People can say tomorrow may deliver goods but a few hours of snow that will melt by the weekend (if it even snows) isn't a beast from the east. Its been the biggest let down in recent years this cold spell.

100% agreed. hysterical is the right word for it. From now on everyone who in the MOD uses the word "BOOM" or "historic" or "pasting" or "buried" or some crap like that goes directly into my ignore list.
