  1. Didn't an Azores high migrate up to Greenland in 2009/10? (I may have the year wrong)
  2. Just watched the BBC weekly forecast. They mentioned it turning colder at the end of the week and he said in a kind of Rob McElwwe style that there's a possibility of things turning much colder after that
  3. Are you saying that because you've had 11 "bad" winters in 76 years in your back yard that global warming doesn't exist? If so, then that's kind of missing the point of global... Surely human input into man made pollution is 100%?
  4. To be honest, I'm not expecting December 2010 (or anything like it). I think the main risk of cold will come after Christmas as other, more knowledgeable posters have mused. Anything we get before then will be a bonus so I'm not going to get downbeat about it. If there's something showing at day 4 or 5 in the models pre Christmas then I'll sit up and take notice.
  5. It never gets closer than day 10 and if/when it does, it gets watered down?
  6. Similar levels of snow here. Snow on the ground from 26th November until around 26th/27th December...
  7. Nobody "knows" but you can make an educated guess based on the current drivers in play and by looking back at previous winters with similar conditions to get an idea of the likely outcome.
  8. I read it as a lower than average chance of an ssw through February as well so if you're reading it wrong so am I.
  9. If I remember correctly the models (a couple of days ago) also show the strength of zonal winds falling off a cliff late November/early December.
  10. Does anyone know when we last had a November warming? I know there was one in 1962...
  11. What a strange coincidence......I used to be a northerner darn sarf!! Lived in Oxfordshire for a couple of years between 2015 and 2017
