  1. Have you seen any of the hearings at the US Senate and whistle blower testimonies? There are things flying around that definitely cannot be explained by other things...
  2. Thanks for clearing that up! But the solar output link is somewhat tenuous isn't it?
  3. Let's hope the winter isn't a million miles from 09/10! I don't recall the winter of 76/77 as I wasn't born until the spring...
  4. Super CP might be interesting to see what happens in our neck of the woods but as there aren't any recorded, it would probably mean something is very wrong!
  5. Seems everything leads to a strong Euro HP these days! I would take a cold stormy February of course if the storms were of snow but I would love a frigid January as we haven't had one for a while. Hopefully the developing el niño doesn't get too strong...
  6. Question for you as I'm bored with this so called summer and my thoughts are turning to winter already. As I understand it, a weak to moderate el niño gives us a better chance of a colder winter (other factors allowing). Does a strong el niño tend to scupper our chances and have we had a cold winter during a "super niño"?
  7. Of course, and I wouldn't expect you to know that! Was actually referring to the NOAA or Tropical Tidbits readings for the Niño region when I asked which one is correct...
  8. Mine is 2 days later on 3rd August when it will set at 20.59...
  9. Where did you get these figures? According to Tropical Tidbits 3.4 was 0.881 today, a touch higher than yesterday.
  10. I was in Scarborough on 19th/20th July last year and it was way hotter than 29°c
  11. We'll be in heatwave scenario by Monday. Apparently the official definition is 3 consecutive days (or more) where the temperature is 25°c or above.
  12. BBC weather app is useless. It has sleet all day for my location but it's done nothing but snow since I got up at 6.45am. However the snow is very wet. Heavy enough to provide a covering on grass but not on roads or pavements yet at my altitude which is 22m or 71m asl (depending which app you believe). Sky seems a little brighter than it has all morning
  13. Do these charts show cumulative snow depths or what is expected to fall on the date the model shows? Ignore - I've just looked at the chart properly and answered my own question!
  14. Looked to me like it turned right as we look at it, comes back on itself then shoots straight up. Who knows?! Back on topic and met office insisting on snow this afternoon for South Yorkshire. Nothing happening yet apart from a light flurry earlier. Hoping tomorrow delivers the goods. Only problem is I have a job interview tomorrow at 1pm!
  15. I don't think that's a meteorite. It's not moving fast enough for most of the video. Don't think it's a lantern either as it does change speed and direction near the end...
  16. You wouldn't see anything on the latest GFS as the SSW hasn't happened yet
  17. At what point will we know if there is going to be a QTR, if it's possible to say? (Assuming an SSW actually comes off)
  18. A small crumb of hope for next week forthoseofusof a coldpersuasion.....just watched the weather forecast for next week on BBC news channel and he said there was still some uncertainty as to how far north the high would position itself next week and suggested it my push towards Scandinavia opening the door to some "very cold air from Eastern Europe".
  19. So it does. Had to zoom in to see it. I'm colour blind so looking at the picture posted on my phone it just looked white. Not the first time my colour blindness has made me look stupid!
  20. Is this a pressure chart? If so, it doesn't give much of a signal one way or the other does it? Or am I missing something?
  21. Snow doing it's best to avoid South Yorkshire this winter. Had a couple of dustings in December, a light 10 minute flurry on Monday around midday and the vaguest sprinkling last night which was hard to distinguish from the frost. Hopefully February will deliver something a bit more exciting....
