    Why are people talking as if the 6z of all runs is set in stone? If you don’t like what it’s showing in FI, you’ve only got to wait another 6 hours.

    I wouldn’t worry - there’s no real consensus yet on what happens after the initial ridge. Models will continue to play around with solutions for the next couple of days.

    You are absolutely correct, no idea why he keeps calling this a polar low. It’s just a low coming down from the north.

    There’s a formula out there somewhere that explains this, but I can’t find it right now. Anyway, 500mb heights are one of the components and essentially the lower the heights, the lower the dam (lower dam = greater snow risk)

    I worry if the high doesn’t retrogress, the low may end up going south and splitting it, leaving us with a euro high.

    Out to t198 the GFS appears to have the consistency of a baby’s nappy. It could still turn out ok - high pressure appears to be more prevalent to the north east on the 12z.

    It’s actually quite impressive how the GFS manages to balls up the setup at the end from that promising position. Looking promising for now though.

    Is it me or does ICON seem a bit more ‘blocky’ to the east than the other models? Not sure if we’d get our northerly/north westerly from that model if it progressed further, but may get something later down the line from the north east instead?

    You called? We certainly seem to be in the raffle for a seasonal Christmas for a change. Let’s see what the atmosphere can concoct over the next few days to deny us.
