  1. He actually, quite clearly, said ‘sometimes’ gives south westerlies.
  2. Wow, certainly an eye opening Icon - it might be that we never actually lose the cold at all...
  3. Crikey - I sincerely hope ukmo has malfunctioned this morning - that 144 chart is dreadful!
  4. The para is just beautiful and is the evolution we need for a proper prolonged cold spell.
  5. Not that good imo - won’t the ridge now start sinking?
  6. I must admit, I’m impressed at the relative positivity on here this morning. I am starting to get that familiar sinking feeling when a cold spell begins to go belly up - the Atlantic ridge is starting to be projected to not make it as far north (apart from on ecm, but I’d expect that to follow).
  7. This may be a slightly technical question, but here goes. How come when a frontal system is approaching from the west, we are told as long as the winds are from east of south, even -1c 850s are sufficient for snow .... However when we have an easterly as modelled with showers coming in from the east, 850s of -6 are not enough? Is it something to do with the make up of a frontal system vs convective showers?
  8. Jeez - as if I didn’t spend enough of my time already staring at weather models, they bring this out??
  9. I’ve always wondered why the Met Office seem to be 12/24 hours behind the curve on these kind of things versus a bunch of enthusiasts on a weather forum. We’re all pretty certain now that the snow is heading through the channel, yet they’re pumping out severe weather warnings? p.s I hope I’m made to eat my words by 6” of snow falling.
  10. I was thinking the same. I’d just be happy for a few snow flurries. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves folks!
  11. My one bit of advice to readers this morning is to take a look at the chart for yourself first, before reading the negative comments on here.
  12. It looked to me as though the two Atlantic lows were in danger of phasing (copyright N. Sussex).
