  1. Very interesting to see that in a typical cold set up. Its usually the fringes in Kent, W Wales , SW and N Ireland that see frequent wintry/snow showers. And now the reverse if being forecast.. Really is quite odd.
  2. If i fancied a bet today, I'd bet on something like this. There's a huge vague gap to our NE. the models dont really know what to stick in there. Im betting on another HP cell building, which will influence the direction of travel of the second incoming low.
  3. But remember.. it had the limpet low over Glasgow earlier in the week, and it corrected 350miles SE in the end.. If that happens to this monster low. It will take it over NW France. And snowmageddon for the South and S Wales..
  4. There is a small warm sector that keeps cropping up.. Should be out of the way by monday evening.
  5. Just saw that. 1mm up to 4mm in the South East on Sunday. And A yellow warning at that. Either the charts are massively out or Exeter will be perpetually upgrading their warnings..
  6. GFS has been developing that Scandi High over recent runs. Any stronger and it will start to exert greater influence over the deep low in the atlantic. And that in turn I suspect will remain in situ and possible spit out a s/w which will most likely head down towards the NW coast of France.. Following this trend with interest
  7. Notice the dry area where the upper level cirrus/stratus spreads out from the frontal snow further south east. This cloud shield often prevents the development of showery activitiy
  8. I can see a few MO Red Warnings being issued for London & SE within 24 hours if that GFS 6z comes off
  9. One aspect to bear in mind. Away from the occlusion moving slowly away SSE. Where the precip ends there will be a dry shield where convection is unlikely to form. A typical example of a dry zone on any one chart might look like this. You can see this is reflected in a lesser radar return forecast.
  10. Well the Vaccine roll out would grind to a stand still and we'd be able to store Pfizer outside.. well almost
  11. Winds would reach sever gale force easterly across most of Southern England. Possibly Storm force in the Channel.. Grim
  12. One other thing.. The greater the snow coverage there is, the lower the overnight temps fall under clear skies in these areas and this can in-turn influence yet colder temps in the lower atmosphere.
  13. Important to remember that winds blow in towards a LP centre so they wont follow the isobars lines exactly. There will be a more NE element to the wind direction as per the arrows. EA and SE looks promising based on that chart.
  14. How comes theres a warm sector without a warm front bringing it in ?
  15. They may well bring a breakdown to more marginal, rain/sleet/snow for the south, and theres a good 48-72 hours of healthy snow opportunities for the South before that arrives. The cold could well extend for a day or two beyond that further north with an awful more lot snow.
  16. The remaining southern areas should see a good few hours of heavy snow finally by day 9. Although a thaw may follow quickly on its heels. If only this could reorientate a little more ESE, it could be very snowy indeed.
  17. On that fax chart at that time stamp I would say snow or hail most likely from The Wash across to Chester, north. Maybe further south later on if the fronts move S or SSW later.
  18. ECM @ 72+ has a small High Cell appearing over Poland. Lets hope this doesnt affect the limpet low moving away later in the run to the SE.
  19. Ah. yes, the Grebes. I wonder how ol Bill is these days. He had an uncanny knack of nailing the forecast with a helping hand of nature.
  20. Those were the days, TEITS. Ian McCaskill explaining " snow showers moving in off the east coast, becoming heavier and more persistent merging into longer outbreaks of heavy snow, with drifting in many places " I remember those days fondly.
  21. Some of the best snowy pics I've taken in a long time. A good 8-12cm of lying snow today. Beautiful in the sunshine. Leith Hill, Surrey
