Fabulous, thanks.

Great photos, especially with the light catching the trees.

Some photos I took Wednesday night, we had blizzard conditions for a while with heavy snow and drifting in strong winds, whipping the snow up the side of walls and into dune shapes with sharp edges and curves. I went down to the beach where the snow was about 1 foot deep and the snow was drifted a couple of feet high against the promenade.

I love that one of the street sign, buried!.

Great photos, drifts look amazing!.

I noticed some members have added personal statements where the cloud types are under their avatars, how do you add this? I assume it's called the personal statement, the help file says it's in the settings but I can't see it, do you need a certain number of posts?. Been wondering for a while, thank you in advance.

Will there be one this year?.

I love sunsets and sunrises and many are taken from the bottom of the croft.
So do I, these are lovely thanks and that first one is a stunner.

A couple of shots from the weekend:
Anvil heading to France framed by low cloud:

House martins are still hanging on down here, I thought they were swallows before until I got a closer look at their tails. I took
of them last night, they looked like they were feeding at dusk. I thought they'd be moving on as it's absolutely freezing here!. -
A nice storm with shelf cloud passed here about 5.45, didn't hear any thunder, grabbed my camera to take a few photos:

Thanks, I find the little ice age very interesting. In fact I was given a book as a gift a few years ago called "The Little Ice Age: How Climate Made History 1300-1850" by Brian M. Fagan. Which doesn't just have the general facts, but goes into great detail about viking settlements, harvests, european history, vinyard locations, agriculture, nao, ice extent, diarists accounts, how people managed etc it really is a fascinating account and I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in this area.
It also makes me wonder if we are entering a cooling period how the infrastructure in the UK would cope with the same type of weather.

got a roaring fire going tonight!
Lovely. I haven't had the heater on here all the time yet, I've given it a couple of quick bursts now and then such as in the morning when it's cold but probably be a few weeks before I'd put it on more.

How long do the swallows hang around for? There's a chill in the air but I've been watching a group of 10-20 darting about over the sky here this afternoon.
I also saw some geese.

Met Office statement;

Makes absolutely no sense to me
Well that was a load of fluff!.

The fact is Rob is the last of the true greats. The era of Bill Giles, Michael Fish etc... Is about to end.
Remember a forecast he did back in December where he ended saying "And for a proper winter, I think you'll agree, this one isn't too bad?" with that witty little glint in his eye. The end of an era.
My sentiments exactly. They can't get rid of him he's the only one that ramps up the snow!. Oh well. I recorded a good deal of the snow forecasts and news specials from last winter so he's bound to be in there to watch and enjoy again.
Didn't they already trial a different style of forecast??
That video was great.

I thought I'd share these photos I took this evening.

I'm still a Daddy Longlegs free-zone. House is usually heaving with them by now !!
I'd been wondering what happened to them too, there are usually lots and I haven't seen any.

Are these Anti-crepuscular rays with a rainbow as part of the ray, or perhaps just Anti-crepuscular rays coincidentally converging with a rainbow. I thought it looked interesting. The sun was on the opposite horizon and behind clouds at the time so it's not direct sun rays. I did a video and pan of sky at the time but by that time the rainbow part was fading and it was hard to see.

I've not seen a swallow or a swift this week. I guess they've hopped it !!
I think they were all down here on Thursday, there were hundreds of them swarming in the air I took

Some nice returns on radar from the cell/s moving over Hythe currently and headed towards Folkestone - perhaps some hail being thrown into the mix down there. Nice looking line on the whole.
Nice thunderstorm here but no hail though, not much lightning, just a couple of flashes and rumbles, but a whole lengthy deluge of rain for a good 5 - 10 minutes, gutters overflowing etc.

Great photo.

Lots of impressive cloud formations about and one large almost supercell like structure way off to the south east
I'm keeping my eye on one coming in off France, pretty high anvil can only just see the top of it above the other cloud at the moment. Hoping it comes this way most others have gone east of here so far today.

Hi folks, thought I'd join in. Usually here for the snow but love a good storm. I've got a good outlook and the channel is getting darker.
