Precipitation over the sea, and snizzle just arrived!
-
So all this precipitation that's flying here at the moment, which is basically light snow, sleet and snizzle, is that actually pepping up as it goes in land? Looking at the radar it looks heavier towards Ashford/Maidstone way than it is here, is that what they talked about the updraft and hills or something technical earlier? Because it's not exactly heavy snow here unless the main "event" hasn't arrived yet.

Still snowing heavily near top of Bluebell Hill - it's been going for a couple of hours now. Just off out (on foot) to pick up a takeaway - wish me luck
Mmm snow and takeaway does it get any better.
Light snow again here!

Is that in regards to the coming front moving North-West over the Channel from France. It was predicted to bring us light snow, and that's what it is bringing to those areas in France. However as we have seen today with this minor front developing into something bigger due to convection and instability, are we expecting this front to also pep up in intensity as it passes over the channel?
Well I don't know technically, but the earlier lot built up so I'm going with that.
Snow flakes in the air again here!.

I am totally amazed at how much I have here, I have never seen this much snow in my life! Truly amazing and it just keeps on falling!
Anyway, pics as you requested...
Great pics! You got a lot there nice.
Well the snow here stopped for the past hour or so, but the clouds look dark over the channel again and it looks like another "blob" forming over north France not sure if that will pick up some more?
-
Seems it is still diverting around the east Kent area at the moment, or going over our heads...
You must be just missing it but not by far, we've been getting dumped on over here and it's still snowing, goes between light and heavy bursts.
The radar for south east and EA looks identical to the lake effect we get over here around the great lakes.
Now you mention it yes it does! It just keeps building off the channel.
Out come the snow men builders:
-
And still the heavy snow piles in off the dark clouded channel here, to quote recent forecasters "no end in sight". A real epic for snow lovers, watching this makes up for missing out the last few weeks.
-
Heads up, channels gone dark heavy snow again, round 3 ding ding!
-
It's great isn't it? Is it all laying nicely down there? Apparently Spitfire Way coming upo into Hawkinge is getting to be passable only with care
WELCOME TO NARNIA lol. We've had heavy snow here and laying everywhere. An inch or two already, let alone the worst was meant to be this evening and overnight?. I was told a recent BBC forecast had nothing showing for east Kent!, are they looking at the radars?
I'm not exaggerating, but it actually looks quite nasty out there if you were out in it. Heavy snow, blowing snow almost horizontal on the beach, strong winds, whipping snow, biting icy wind, dark, low visibility. Updated photos:
You can't see the wind strength:
Houses back there have vanished:
Snow depth:

BBC1 if you want to watch hardy souls running through snow!
Still coming down here a bit more moderately.
-
i wonder how heavy it will actually be this eve...is it gonna be really that bad?
Getting blitzed with snow down here!.
And we weren't even meant to get much here until later. This evening will be interesting.

INCOMING!!
Heavy snow
BINGO!
-
Really hammering it down now, heavy snow, big snow flakes, picking up off the channel and dumping it!
-
Going on that radar on Rain Today precipitation increasing as it crosses the channel.
*Mr Burns from Simpsons voice* EXXXCELLENT.
-
this one,
That's some high drifting.
Whatever just blew through here was quite something, heavy snow, extreme gusts of wind, low visibility, like a minature blizzard!
-
the local roads around deal east kent, and this is the only passable on without 4x4!
Great photo! Got any more?
-
Lots of dark clouds out in the sea towards France, this in the opposite direction over the snow covered beach.
-
I hope so Some parts that haven't had much could do well if that comes off.
-
Went out at 6.30am to do some photography by the time i got back a snowstorm hit lol
Herne
Kent
England
Great pics thanks for sharing. The guy with the dog looks a bit like Simon King. I wondered when you said you were going for a walk earlier if we'd see some photos. Did you take any when the snow arrived or headed home then?

Ooh the whole of the UK is white!
Is there a european snow cover satellite image?.
We caught the edge of the snow band that just went south despite forecasts this morning saying nothing would get this far.
-
Just heading out to get some photos.
I did like wise lol! Soon as that snow was bucketing down, where's me coat and snow boots, and off out the door!. Walked around for a bit in the heavy snow. Didn't stay out long, got completely coated in snow which was big snowflakes blowing sideways, camera screen went fuzzy from getting wet (it's not meant to be waterproof but has survived other storms before), batteries ran out as well taking pictures and video. Bone chilling cold to my fingers despite the fleece gloves on, took coat off when got back in loads of snow fell on the floor!. About an inch of snow so far I reckon with some moderate light snow now.
-
Ah, this is better.
I think we might get hit by that dark patch on the radar?

BBC1 have a special programme on the snow at 11am. (Thought would copy from South East thread)

Light snow here and 2 celsius, more snow than the sleety snizzle we had blowing about all night and morning so maybe it's the colder air pool sneaking in, don't think it will amount to anything but it looks seasonal none the less.
