Here's a video I took of the storm that just went past Romney way:
-
Big storm over the Romney marsh, just missed here but thunder crackling around, looks like there might be another following behind it.
-
Some nice cloud structures today! this shower exploded behind my field and dumped rain to the east of my house! was nice to see but no sferics ugh.
Great pic.
-
No storms today, (quélle surprise!) but some interesting Cumulus Mammatus this afternoon. Thought I'd share the below images with you.
Some interesting clouds here too, okay the first one I kept an eye on because it looked like a funnel and kept developing dropping bits and then changing and then it seemed to spiral like a corkscrew? (and it has the loch ness monster poking his head in on the left hand side):
This just looked like a bird sat on top of a cloud.
-
Missed out on the thunderstorms this afternoon, one just clipped here but went west and the second band fizzled out. But it made for some interesting clouds:
And this anvil just heading for France about half hour ago:
-
Waiting for the radar to update to see if any more storms are headed this way, I think the heat from the M20 is making the clouds split.
-
First rumble of thunder!. Storm is mostly west of here very dark there, blustery and a smattering of rain drops on the window.
-
I am seriously thinking of leaving at around 4pm. I've had a headache all day - maybe that could suddenly turn into a migraine?
It's probably best to be on the safe side.
-
This lot is on it's way somewhere!
Can see very dark sky to the west of here must be the Eastbourne and Hastings contigent currently stealing all the thunder at the moment.
-
Wondering if this is going to last by the time it gets into the far corner of Kent or fizzle out like the last band, would be nice to join in the fun.
-
hahaha! 1st F5 to hit kent in recorded history! LOL!!
Hah, I would have been really amazed if that thing was rotating, I sometimes have dreams about a tornado hopefully not a premonition.
Looks like an anvil heading Folkestone way but its hidden behind cumulus. Looks like a storm out to sea too. Why are most of the showers pepping up once they get just offshore?
-
Been some interesting cloud formations but no thunder yet.
And here's a tornado*
*not really.
-
Deja-vu of the Eastbourne event a week or so ago, a line of very slow moving heavy showers there in the past hour or so
I can see some beefy thundery looking ones from here out to sea though.

when I was younger, I was certainly what I'd call a brontophobe
I wouldn't class myself as phobic of storms, but I am wary of them nowadays. When I was younger I used to sit outside watching them go over, now I don't like being outside when there are storms around, because when I was younger lightning hit the roof between my parents and neighbours house, I was upstairs at the time, I've never heard such a loud/crack bang in my life, I fell to the floor in fright. The lightning travelled down the aerial and electrical sockets in the house, blew the aerial socket off the lounge wall, blew up my computer and blew out my neighbours aerial socket and set fire to their lounge curtain!. Now I watch storms from the window and still enjoy them love the lightning and thunder and downpours, but wouldn't want to be out in it.
I have a strong phobia of insects, particularly crane flies
I'm not phobic of crane flies but as far as I'm concerned they're like flying spiders, they just come at you with their legs trailing behind, urgh, I don't actually mind them flying around the room or sitting on the wall but not when they fly into my face!.
Clouds are building here:
-
Become distinctly muggier here in the last couple of hours making it feel thundery, sunny but larger darker clouds starting to bubble up.
-
I don't think it's a real funnel but I thought it looked interesting anyway:
-
Really nice compositions there Neil what camera do you use?.
-
Very nice photos skys on fire type sunset!.
-
High spring tide today? in a couple of hours time here, combined with storm force winds on the coast right now, might provide some good photo opportunities.

Good morning ladies & gents... My name is Chris, I'm a kiteboarding photographer, I do a lot of my work at Camber Sands & Greatstone. I've been referred over to here by someone on a photography forum where I posted my panoramic shot of the storm cell over Camber Sands!
Welcome and congrats on that amazing photo!

Evening hours of Sunday 15th July 2007 was when the last supercell occurred - just one day shy of the 3rd anniversary!
I checked my folders and I took this video on that day in 2007:
-
Found an awesome clip of the storm across Kent this evening - more than likely the same one which was confirmed as supercellular.
Cool thanks for sharing. The video doesn't do it justice when you are standing underneath the size of it.
-
well im in dover, and looking out to the south a storm is approaching. 5 strikes a minute c.g but no thunder yet.
Just as you said that looked out the window and saw lightning flashing out to sea.
-
That is fantastic - well done, and thanks for putting it on here! .
Thanks, I wish I'd done a longer video, but I was busy looking out the front and back and it kind of crept up on me. I read Harry's post with interest, we have indeed witnessed quite a few of these in this area, so if I see any more in future I'll train the camera on them!.
