  1. It got down to 20.3°C in the lounge and well below 20°C in the bedroom. With the wonderful ventilation of that NW wind through the open window I sure slept like a dog!
  2. A cool comfortable day today, opened the bedroom door with its bottled up cool air from the open window (north west facing) to allow some comfortable temperatures and it was very cool and comfortable in there sleeping last night..... I slept like a dog!
  3. Sounds bad for the SE for sure. Up here rainfall amount's been a bit below average but it's after a few wet years like 2019/2020 so swings and roundabouts.
  4. Sheffield has had a stonking 3 rumbles of thunder so far this year. This is the lowest I've ever known in my records and probably my life so far. Very strange.
  5. Temp's been hanging about at 21-22 degrees for the last few days.
  6. Same goes for heat haters too. A lot of people that moan about either heat or cold, seems like it is often a mental preconditioning, they tell themselves it really sucks and this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, rather than just getting on with it. What happened to the old British stiff upper lip and get on with it attitude.
  7. I think your misunderstanding what I said, or somehow I'm not getting it across very well, so my humble apologies... I am autistic so I find it hard to get things across... and never for one second have I tried to insinuate anybody is wrong...nor did I actually say that anyway, but, terribly sorry if it came across like that. I was only, well, trying to say, that I tend not to see a lot of posts showing the Jetstream and that I find it useful to get an idea of the bigger picture - not in isolation but alongside other charts. That really was it. I'm very sorry I apparently got all this across so wrong that people think I am in someway being critical or arrogant. Perhaps it's for the best I put away my cap and simply stop posting and log off. I'm sure everyone will be much happier for it.
  8. Of course they are. But I rarely see anyone looking at it in the model thread. I find that looking at the trend of the Jet Steam gives a good idea of the likely weather patterns that are developing, due to how much it influences our climate. Many charts of the 500mb thickness and surface pressure are shown, and often at a late time frame, without the additional context of how the jet stream is influencing the pressure pattern and distribution.
  9. Chilly day here today at a paltry 15°C. Brrrr! The model charts are showing the JetStream diving south around the UK/France over the next couple of weeks which if true will see a cool, wet start to August for the most part. I notice not a lot of people in the model thread seem to pay attention to the jetstream, rather cherry picking fantasyland charts of high pressure trying to ridge over the UK which inevitably doesn't happen.
  10. Just 20.5°C in the lounge today due to the very chilly weather.
  11. It is stable at 21.9°C in the lounge.
  12. So despite all the wrong charts lately; a crap weekend here, rain cancelled my bike ride which was for transport purposes not exercise or recreation specifically.
  13. I despise this rubbish NW/SE split nonsense. Sheffield always joins in with the NW on these occasions. I hate the silly light constant frontal rain we get. I wish all our rain came in big thundery downpours lasting half an hour each.
  14. No thunderstorms this year. I'm going on holiday to New Orleans next August so that's when I'll see one.
  15. 21.7°C in my lounge apparently but the battery may be going flat. It can under-read when that happens.
  16. 100%, only early yesterday I was being forecast 25 degrees both today and tomorrow and the reality is we barely scraped 20 with a nagging overcast. The models had their day with the heatwave but are now struggling to hang on by a thread.
  17. Oh well well well looks like after their stopped clock right twice a day win with the heatwave, the models are back to selling the promise of nice weather ahead to downgrade to gray cloudy cold rubbish at the 48 hour timeframe, normality has resumed. At least the house is cooler inside tho.
  18. 12:49PM 22.3°C, 59% humidity in the lounge. Much better but would prefer 20. Very cold wet weather today is helping.
  19. Another cyclist here - and I certainly didn't take the bike out on any of our three hot days, not interested in getting heatstroke! The hottest I will ever ride is about 29 degrees and then only flatter routes and less than 5 miles. On the bike I find 13-22 my ideal temps! And preferably overcast but dry.
  20. Down to 23.9°C in the lounge, slowly does it!
  21. In my lived in locations: 2004, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2020.
  22. Got some cross-ventilation going on now cooling things down, now 26.2°C in the lounge. The warm temps have really made my reed-diffuser smell very strong!
  23. 16:41 21.6°C, 67% humidity, overcast. Wind 9mph from north-west Pressure 1014mb Aaaaah... So nice and fresh. Window letting wind straight in from the NW to get rid of the stored heat inside.
  24. Early today I recorded the highest temp ever in the lounge: 27.0°C Right now it's 26.0°C.
