  1. It's 16.7°C and I honestly feel too HOT. Not sure why that is...... but yeah.
  2. There's a big wild apple tree by a stream here in Sheffield that STILL has Apples on it. Is that unusual or not in December?
  3. I know the Met have their own definition, but to me it's not really a proper white christmas unless there's a decently thick layer of snow lying on the ground. It doesn't exactly look white if there's a little shower where it all melts on impact with the ground.
  4. Poor little boiler working its nuts off to get the heating going.... I could use some of that forced air stuff right now.
  5. I may be lucky in that what is a cold room for many feels relatively comfortable to me, but this is probably because of physiological differences and metabolism, as we ain't all the same. Just how it is but works in my favour in winter, not so much in summer.
  6. Damn, don't think I can wait that long, turning the computer on added 0.6°C, but I think I'm gonna need a bit more than that.
  7. Here in lower Sheffield we have..........*DRUM ROLL*.......... drizzle. Yay!
  8. 11.7°C in the lounge, 'cos I'm, lyke, well tough m8, innit? Do I get a medal??? Yeah, NOT. Cos I can't afford to heat the place overnight. Heating will be on soon up to 18°C.
  9. Heating goes on about 2PM til around dinner time, set to 18°C in the lounge, but it tends to reach about half a degree short. It goes off at 6:30-7PM after I cook, as I don't need it in the evening and need a cool environment to sleep in.
  10. Looked out window, no snow. Ah well guess I won't be slipping and sliding on my walk later then!
  11. Not sure the temp but woke up to a nice crisp cool bedroom with the window open slightly. Feels refreshing and comfortable to me, so I must be weird. My body just produces a ton of heat. But we're all different aren't we? There's a guy on another weather forum who lives in Australia (Darwin) who has no AC and posts indoor temps in the mid 30's. But far from obnoxiously assuming he's bragging about his temps I just see he's used to it and it's interesting what he finds comfortable.
  12. Well, I don't mind it honestly, I breathe better the cool air and I'm a "hot blooded" person anyway so to speak. Could also be because I grew up in a big cold house in Buxton often described as an "ice-box", and we couldn't afford to heat the whole thing, my bedroom at the back of the house tended to be the coldest naturally...
  13. Not gone below freezing yet. My bit of Sheffield doesn't get much below freezing easily.
  14. For me it started with my nerve issues affecting my body temp and the foot pain. Now it's 12°C in the bedroom and I am very warm under the covers but my feet have to be out the bottom to not ache and stay cool!
  15. 17.3°C and 64% humidity in the lounge at the moment. Once I start cooking the dinner the heating goes off as that adds heat into the environment of my apartment.
  16. Heating's been on several hours - now temp's just edging up to 15°C (thermo set to 18). It'll get there eventually
  17. I've noticed that as well, I don't want anything over 25°C in summer really, specially when out running or cycling up hills, one gets very hot! As you see in my preferences, I like 13-22°C, with a mix of cloud/sun as well so we're similar in that regard but I like even milder in winter. I'd like a lot more thunderstorms though in general than the UK gets.
  18. The cold doesn't affect me at all but there is a thick ground frost out there still, slippery and quite dangerous on my walk earlier.
  19. Yes so typical, I had a feeling this might happen, thankfully im coping Ok, though my inside temps aren't quite as high as Ideal (except the bedroom which I need ventilated at night). Since getting fitter I'm more cold and warm tolerant though. 14 stone muscly people tend to be pretty warm blooded as well! I tried applying for the "warm home discount" this year but was not eligible unfortunately!
  20. Woke up in the bedroom to 10°C, as the window is open for ventilation, as I sleep badly in stagnant air, and my burning nerve pain virtually stops when it's cooler. I'm very warm under a thick duvet. The room will be heated during the day with the window shut. Thermostat for the lounge is set to 18°C and it can take some time to reach that in these cold conditions. When I post low indoor temps it's not bragging or trying to prove "I'm "tough" or score points, it's because I can't afford to keep heating on overnight; I live in an old poorly insulated building, and due to medical reasons sleep much better in a very cool bedroom. Just how it is. I'm so glad to be on a forum where everyone understands and respects people's differences of course.
  21. And who would that be, then? I looked through that whole thread (which I started), and couldn't see a single post indicating anything of that sort. And yeah, some people aren't lucky enough to have temps of 21°C inside all the time. I'm lucky to afford to keep it around 15-17 in the day with my heating on as much as I can afford. I'm physically fit and pretty cold tolerant thankfully, but my financial situation isn't the best at the moment. I also make sure to wear plenty of layers. I do have to keep ventilation in the bedroom, which means it can get cold in there, and that is due to medical reasons, as I have a nerve disorder that means I have to keep my feet cold so as not to get burning pains in them (a sort of neuropathy) so I have posted some low indoor temps in that room. I tend to overheat when I sleep and again this due to the medical condition. Yes temps can get to 10°C in there, no it isn't a "badge of honour" but the only way I can sleep comfortably and the ventilation helps to prevent damp. Don't go calling people "idiots", not very polite really, especially when you're not brave enough to name who you're talking about.
  22. 11.7°C a bit earlier in the lounge but now up to 14.1°C with the heating on.
  23. If you mean the 500mb temperature, then I totally agree.
  24. Can hardly wait for temps to hit the double figures again.
