    Lots of snow in southern Norway, almost 50cm in some places close to the coast. The forecast for the new week is exceptional, especially for the locations a bit more inland.. Probably the most snow in December in many, many years..     ECM 850mean for next Tuesday for southern Norway -15. GFS +2 !!! No Comment!!

    Probably some of the best runs I have seen since February 2018. ECM mean is outstanding and the set ups that all the models suggest for the next 10 days are incredible for early December. This is a classic set up for southern Norway that brings a lot of snow. I have seen similar set ups in late January, February or March but I can't remember something similar during early December

    Exactly!! I'm 99% sure that this is what will happen. Those guys need to do something with their algorithms...

    The so-called model agreement for a cold invasion in Europe at 216 hours during the previous days has been crashed. Good to remember that in the future. Even if the models agree, 200+ hours are a century ahead. But what a change according to ECM!! Still impressive, instead of colder conditions the entire continent, even Denmark, gets warmer ones!!

    Can't complain with this run but one thing that I don't like: Some ensembles showing that damn low pressure center between Lofoten Greenland and Svalbard.. Has happened so many times in the past that a low pressure there keeps the real cold away from reaching south..

    What is pretty impressive is that a month that began with such a cold period and prospects, the coldest since 2010 in many places was very easily replaced with the warmest temperatures EVER recorded in lots of places in Europe. Today we had a warm record in Kristiansand with 16,3 degrees. It's insane and at the same time very worrying how easily we smash warm records nowadays.

    I believe GFS is way wrong here.. It tries as always to overcomplicate things.. Stay simple as ECM and UKMO

    Quite impressed by how poor GFS 06 is performing in nowcast.. Just have a look at the predictions for Southern Norway today, and look at the cameras.. So basically 0mm from GFS 06z and showing the snow band at least 150km south (and not at all so intense) and the result is white out with almost 15-20cm at the coast.. Almost all models failed for today, but GFS was the worst. GEM was by far the best
