  1. Intense no. But probably northern Poland can get benefited when low pressure systems moves over Baltic. Northern winds can cause sea effect snow from the Baltic.
  2. Where in Poland? Keep in mind that there is huge difference between South/North of Poland. Probably they need different set ups. Also although it is usually cold, it is also dry during the winter (for example in Warsaw). So you cannot expect the same winter storms as in the US where they "feed" from the warm waters of Gulf of Mexico and you get those intense storms with abundant precipitation for thousands of kilometres of land. Best place for snow is Southern Poland (like Zakopane for example) where Tatras "block" the moisture and orographic lift provides the opportunity for more snow than the rest of the country
  3. Sorry for my boring complains earlier this month but what I assumed it is now confirmed. Tre steder i landet med historisk varmerekord i november WWW.NRK.NO På Torungen fyr i Arendal har det aldri vært en varmere november siden målinger startet i 1867. Det samme gjelder flere andre steder i... Here it has never been so hot in November. At Torungen lighthouse in Arendal, it has never been a warmer November since measurements started in 1867. The same applies to several other places in the country.
  4. And this is exactly what I don't like with this model output. It is very rare to have a set up like this, and now that models show that, there is no cold in Europe. It is so frustrating Ι also can't see how these set ups can be upgraded. There is no cold in the entire Europe continent.
  5. Unfortunately everything crashes to this incredibly strong anticyclone of Western Russia. So no cold can get into Europe. Actually western and northern Europe need exactly the opposite of what ECM240 shows...
  6. A very warm November in Scandinavia, possibly one of the warmest ever. The first week of December seems also warmer than normal with southern winds AGAIN!! I can't remember the last time of northern winds here. All in all, last year's tragedy continues...
  7. Exactly. Can't see anything "exciting" at this chart. Whole Europe is covered by a much more warm layer, there is no path of cold air
  8. Impressive how this November evolves.. According to the models, we are having a very short break from south-western winds this week, but the trend will probably continue afterwards.. I believe we will record the warmest November ever here in Norway. Currently 2018 holds the record
  9. More heat records were smashed yesterday night in Norway.. According to the last model outputs we are heading towards a warm record breaking November! It will be interesting to see correlations between a very warm November and the rest of the winter
  10. Arctic is the fastest warming place on the planet due to climate change. That leads to ice forming very late compared to the past. That also leads to an open sea where low pressure is easiest to form and winter is coming more and more late at the Northern Hemisphere. So late that December is almost no winter anymore, last December below normal was 10 years ago. Think about it, it is like having November instead of December and December instead of January... Then February and March is what is remaining from the Winter... I am really curious about winters in 30 years from now for example with arctic almost entirely ice free in the summers..
  11. Warm records for November in Oslo area on Monday Possibility of new records on Thursday-Friday!! And the next 15 days seem to be above normal also.. We are back to the awful previous winter...
  12. The 3 victims(and 1 missing person) are not from the ionian islands that got the direct hit from the medicane, but from central greece(Karditsa) where 500mm was measured in the mountains and 200-300mm at the plains due to orographic lift and very slow moving storms.. It was just once in a lifetime event there
  13. Insane amounts of rain in central and southern Greece. Over 200mm in vast areas and even more than 300mm in some places... 3 people are missing and countless homes, roads etc. under water.. One of the most powerful weather systems that have ever been observed in Greece. We have seen in the past summer storms with more than 200mm in isolated areas in 24hrs but I can't remember so vast areas recording that much precipitation. I thing we will see more and more of these weather systems in the future due to the ongoing positive sea temperature anomalies

  15. Signs of the same pattern? After 88-89 we had a similarly awful 89-90, after 19-20 ?
  16. I think that both 1989 and 1990 had also a record vortex but no cold in March or April...
  17. What an outlier GFS 00z is! Wow! https://www.wetterzentrale.de/en/ens_image.php?geoid=92039&var=201&run=0&date=2020-02-09&model=gfs&member=ENS&bw=1
  18. We also got 3-5cm yesterday night the first snowfall after Christmas. No sign of pattern change thought, I believe that we will smash all records of the mildest winter ever
