  1. If Siberia can get up to 37C then we must be able to get 40C.
  2. Weather already a downgrade from what was being forecasted earlier. Now just one day with a high of 28C. This "heatwave" will be over before it's even started
  3. I am now convinced that 2020 will overtake 2016 as the warmest year on record. Would this be the first year that isn't an el nino to do that? I remember we had a continuous period - 2014, 2015, and 2016 were all the warmest years on record
  4. No 30C forecasted for where I am next week, max now 28C. We will see, its gone down
  5. Indeed, the EA said in 2035 England would face water shortages. But certainly there are misconceptions about London and rain. It's not even remotely close to the wettest cities in Europe
  6. I can't remember June but I remember July here was damn hot. 38C, in fact th ehighest ever temp was 38.7 in Cambridge. We were hotter than in London, and I went out to Norfolk in August and I remember we had temps in the low 30s for a few days. I recall june being really hot but I think I was confusing it with france which had a heatwave in june and july. June last year wasn't as warm as I remembered.
  7. What happened to last junes? As said I think at most we will get 30C for a day or two. And such extremes will only be in and around London. East anglia which is usually the hottest place (outside london anyway) is actualy looking a little cooler.
  8. Yep accuweather is terrible, never known them to get it right.
  9. Exactly my point. Harsh winters every year. Heatwaves? No. Glorifying unseasonably warm weather has to stop. It has deadly consequences.
  10. Is this site accurate though? None of the other sites (met office, timeanddate, accuweather, bbc weather channel etc) are forecasting temps that high or prolonged. GFS is only showing one day with a temp of 31C - and thats on sunday - although all the other websites seems to be showing sunday will be one of the cooler days. I feel like a lot of this year has been similar to 2017. I remember april was pretty warm. winter was average, mild at times 18C in feb. Hopefully we will continue to see months that mirror those of 2017 - beast from the east? at the very least a colder winter than this year! Shouldn't be hard actually...
  11. GFS currently showing only one day, sunday, with 31C, others are 28-29C. We will see though. It may change
  12. That's what I'm saying, July or ausgust is nothing but June seems a little different. 2018 I don't recall.
  13. Is weatheronline reliable though? I only use the Met and weather.com. bbc showing one, possibly two days at 30c. Looking back i can see london had four days at around 30c in 2017. ironically it was just around the week before these temps are forecasted. 1976 obviously very hot summer, 2017 mediocre. I'm more inclined based on what I've seen so far to be like 2017. I'm guessing max temp of 32C somewhere, maybe two days of it in a row at most. In my area rain is now forecasted at the weekend, with highs of 28C.
  14. Yeah London is often portrayed as wet. Actually its drier than most european cities. 5 days at those temps really? Would that be a record
  15. BBC now juts saying 28C for me. Honestly I don't actually want it to be 30C. Minima is going to be crap like 18C, and it won't be dry heat, the humidity looks crazy. Even at 27C its going to feel liek 32C, with 30C feeling like 34C. Any 30C + weather can wait another month
  16. UK is no longer a wet and rainy country - UK is no longer a 'wet and rainy' country, head of Environment Agency says WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK New Love Water campaign calls on Brits to save increasingly precious resource
  17. MO always seems to be very conservative for estimates. BBC tin my opinion tends to overestimate. iPhone app (the weather channel) changes lal the time and is usually a degree lower than actual for maxima and a degree higher for minima
  18. We got tonnes of rain last night Further unusual weather https://www.accuweather.com/en/winter-weather/junuary-snowfall-blankets-high-elevations-across-idaho-montana/761490
  19. I've had two family members claim on the "morning breakfast" show the long term forecast is something about the "hottest summer ever". No idea what they're on about.
  20. Heatwave in the Arctic , but SNOW in the west midlands. Can't make it up Snow hits UK in middle of June after thunderstorms dump 2 inches of rain - Mirror Online WWW.MIRROR.CO.UK A sudden summer storm covered a street with snow despite the local council saying the temperature was 16C - meanwhile the Met Office...
  21. I think August might end up being the hottest month. Just a feeling.
  22. I'm sure they are aren't, given half of russia is built on permafrost. This weather is not natural. Climate change isn't as clear cut as places just getting warmer. It juts means it becomes more erratic, with ridiculously crazy weather events like this. Besides russia didn't have a brutal winter this year, it was actually their warmest on record. Glad we don't have that here, we've had two summers in a row with hot weather and this month apepars to be a little below average tempreature wise so far. Perhaps 30C next week. Overall though as much as I complain about the UK weather, at least we won't suffer that much tempreature wise from climate change, although flooding is a different story.
  23. Think we might have the first 30C day of the year next week wednesday or something. I'm not looking forward to it because lots of humidity so it will be difficult to get to sleep and 29C is going to feel like 34C according to BBC weather.
