  1. It reached 51C in Baghdad the other day. Thoes are the places you wonder if they will remain habitable for much longer.
  2. Not sure if it well get any warmer than 33 max on thoes days though as so far the weather is suggesting on 2/3 of those days it will be partly cloudy or cloudy which will stop things getting much hotter
  3. I know earlier in June a similar thing happened where models showed 3 days of 30C temsp and then it faded to just one day that made it just above 30C (33c actually I think). Intestingly it looks like if the models aer true one of those days will end up with a tropical night at least in west London.
  4. Coudl we see similar tempreatures to the ones we've had next weekend as currently around 30c for london and southeast
  5. As said its interesting to know the worst case scenarios have been ruled out but that also means the best case scenario has been ruled out. Honestly though I haven't had timet o worry about climate change with COVID.
  6. Whilst rising tempreatures are a problem, at least this isn't accompanied by a drought or its heat that won't dissipate for weeks. Even with climate change, the impact on UK tempreatures will be moderate compared to most countries. We will be one of the lucky ones.
  7. Even an easterly wind can be quite hot if theres heat on the continent.
  8. I've always been interested by the fact that yet despite rising maxima in summer it's been thirty years and we still haven't beaten the overnight minima set back in 1990. It will be a hot night, but minima is 16-18C.
  9. No not necessarily that far east but somewhere like Cambridge where we got it last year.
  10. Probably been discussed before, I know they've debunked the theory of an airport but is there any reason for why west London always seems to be the hottest part of the country? I would have thought somewhere more easterly would have been warmer.
  11. I don't know why everyone is honestly surprised when we have these one day bursts of heat. We knew about this stuff for decades. Howeverf I am pleased that whilts it is hot, it feels far from oppresive at 33-34C and its only one day. Spare a thought for southwestern france where I believe the temps are in the low 40s.
  12. Probably, although it will probably be just a single day like this rather than some drawn out heatwave. Wasn't there that one in the 1800s where it reacehd 40C somewhere and was ridiculously hot for a few days ? They could never verify it obviously. It's surprising to see this sudden warmth after a pretty average and abysmal summer. Still the heat has come a lot later than last year. I'm starting to think august might be a decent month
  13. Is it just me but this hardly feels "exceptional". Feels like every summer in southeastern England in the 21st century.
  14. Was wondering the same thing it went from being forecast to 33C to that. Is it expected to rise any further?
  15. Not sure if it was discussed on here but the best and worst case scenarios have been ruled out for tempreturate rise with it narrowed to the region of 2.6c-3.9C. The met office suggests 2018-2022 will be an unusually warm period.
  16. Guess we won't know until the end of hte day. waiting for the met office to confirm anything
  17. Is the weather.com (google weather) accurate? Yesterday in Harlow accordign to Google it was 32C yet the met said the highest temp in the UK was 29C and wasn't in harlow (can't remember where they said it was now) and according to google its 37C in Harlow right noqw.
  18. It's been warmer than average, sometimes signfiicantly, basically every month this year . -
  19. Depends on what you like I guess. I like cold weather...but not in summer. Autumn is fine though. I'm just hoping for a decent winter in 2021, I mean it can't be worse than 2020s. Even 2019 with that ridiculous spell of warm weather in late february was better. At least January was very cold
  20. Probably a bit early, but Gav's weather blog suggesting a cool to cold autumn and early winter dominated by northwesterlies, with early snow and frost. I didn't like october 2018, it doesn't feel right to have 25C weather in october.
  21. June was okay although some chilly days. I think summer started in mid April and ended in late June. I've literally seen toadstools and other fungi out which I'm pretty sure shouldn't be out until October. Maybe I'm wrong though
  22. Oh yes, its way colder here than it should be. This is about the forth day where tempreatures have failed to make it to 20C. Minima also running 4C below average at 9C. I feel like august could be the warmest month, or at least, warmer than july but i can't see anything incredible. Hey, you never know maybe we'll have an indian summer. 2016's hottest day was in September
  23. For the whole UK though, ihe current CET is just a little over 1C below average. I guess given a warming climate that is more significant an anomaly than say 1C warmer than average. I wonder what August will bring, maybe the heat will arrive then. We had a couple of days of 30-32C in East Anglia but nothing more.
