  1. Another frigid September day, (yes its not that cold but for september and southeastern england it is and is especially so when you factor in the wind). Looking like a cool start to october too. The CET is coming right down.
  2. Absolutely frigid here. 12C feeling more like 8C. Very strong winds. Heavy rain this morning too. Feels like winter.
  3. Didn't think we'd ever get tempreatures that low given the recent warm spell. Hope it continues
  4. Felt cold today at around 14/15C, tommorow will be a very cold day for September, highs of just 12C but with northerly winds it will feel like 9C.
  5. Nicely timed autumn weather for the equinox. But wow - tempreatures reaching minima in my area of 4C for Saturday night/Sunday morning!
  6. Things looking rather chilly even for late September. 12C on Friday here in southwestern Essex. Finally some cool weather.
  7. Autumn is coming - looking quite cold even for late September. I recall we had a cold snap with similar Maxima but much lower minima for a couple of days after the 1st of October last year. This is Essex.
  8. If it was in the first half of the month it would be okay. I feel like this month is just making up for the crappy July. Still as long as the weather does get decently autumnal (temps ideally under 18, nights in single figures, rain) then I'll be happy. It would be even worse if autumn started briefly, and then we had a warm spell in october like 2018. I just don't like unseasonably warm or unseasonably cold weather.
  9. That's true. I guess we coudl see another warm spell but I don't think we'll get something like November where we had 22C in wales and the extremely mild, spring like december
  10. Isn't this in itself an "indian summer"? No thank you, autumn can't come any sooner
  11. Even though, the weather channel is now favouring quite cool temps, some not as cool as that, lowest they're forecasting i about 15. And yes a lot can change but all the models seem to be in agreement about a cool down.
  12. Looking nice and autumnal next week - though whether the forecast will change is another matter probably too soon
  13. Just wanting autumn to start now. Final week on BBC looks quite cool but much warmer according to weather channel.
  14. Was it? Depends on what you like. September was nice, October had that extremely warm spell at the start which I didn't particuarly like, had it been a month earlier it would have been okay. December was on the mild side, but in January it got very cold. I'd rather have a warm or mild autumn and then a cold winter rather than have a cool autumn and a rubbish winter. knowing our luck we'll get the worst of both this year
  15. bbc weather and weather.com appear to differentiate for my area, both show the final week markedly cooler, but tempreatures are varying, as low as 14C on some days by BBC with the lowest on Weather.com being 16C. And what do you mean last autumn wasn't decent? I found last autumn to be one of the best. Was pretty cool. Lots of frost as the months progressed. Though even though the tempreatures may not have dropped yet, the trees are looking autumnal much earlier than last year. Worth pointing out last september we also had quite a few warm days in the later days of the month.
  16. Anyone have a feeling we're in another one of htese "blocking" patterns? Hardly rained here. I mean if we got some northern blocking in winter or late autumn this would be a perfect scenario, but no doubt it will just be mild and wet.
  17. I Can't see it somehow given we will nearly have 30c next week, but maybe you'll be right, also if the HP continues into october we could see it then
  18. Wouldn't want to claim that one too soon, still nearly a week away and the models have been flip flopping all over the place. A week ago we were being told of a cool and unsettled month.
  19. GFS is now only showing Monday with 27C, other days seem basically average
  20. Ah gotta love the tabloids. Sun and Coral saying the odds have been slashed on the "hottest September ever" because parts of the country will reach the low to possibly mid 20s for about a day next week.
  21. Cold and crisp start to meteorological autumn today, just 8C out this morning.
  22. Felt like a mild winters day , like that of this year. In London the temperature was actually cooler than they forecasted, around 14-15C! Windy and wet. Coat and gloves.
  23. But a six day spell of tempreatures above 34c is unprecedented. At least, not within the records we have. There's a great website, London-weather.eu which looks at the weather in London all months since 1900. Even in the early to mid 2000s, these tempreatures were pretty infrequent, the only real ones being 2003 or 2006. Sure we've had them before, but not at this frequency. Three years in a row where we've had high tempreatures like this. Of course, it doesn't compare to 2018, or even 2019 to be fair in terms of it was a much warmer summer, but its still notable. And look around at what eles is happenign - remember that arctic heatwave in Siberia where they had tempreatures of up to 38C in June? Or the heatwave in the southwestern USA where the worlds' highest tempreature record may well have been broken?
  24. Looks like this might be the last week of summer - at least here in the south. Next Saturday here in Essex will see highs of 16C! Typical late august weather
