    Hmm, odd, bbc reckons there's a 71% chance of rain at heathrow at five.

    I'm not sure I mean I guess the exisitng heat is there but it's already a degree or two lower than today being forecasted fo much of London and the SE tommorow. Interestingly MO on Twitter suggesting 37C for tommorow when (so far) that hasn't even been reached today.

    I think everyone got carried away on the premise the models would hugely underestimate the tempreatures. I'm glad we've avoided another tempreature record, especially if were to be as crazy as 40C.

    But that was forecasted . Everyone was caught by surprise last week. Didn't the temperature rise by a degree or two in about a minute at Heathrow ?

    I reckon we will potentially get about 36.5C today tops, but more likely 35.6

    It will be a horrible night (though I'm well outside of any UHI so it will be 20 max here) but I'm honestly surprises its lasted as long as 30 years. Literally just over 30 years since hten.

    Wait up - London (Greater London) weather WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK London 7 day weather forecast including weather warnings, temperature, rain, wind, visibility, humidity and UV According to this overnight minimum is 25C in London - not only would that break the overnight record if true but this is 4C warmer than the overnight temp at heathrow. is this some kind of glitch?

    Obviously not verified yet but I checked the tempreature at heathrow about ten minutes ago and it was 28C.

    Seems like this is a more traditional heatwave as in like 2018 (although nowhere near as long), with an extended period of 30+ temps but nothing record breaking, not a one day surge like last week or 2019

    The beeb is forecasting them for me in South essex on Wednesday and Thursday , just one day of thunder and lightning on Wednesday for London.

    The heat can be an issue down here in the summer but I wouldn't want to be as far north as Scotland where they never get into the 20s

    Don't understand why people are shocked at this hot spell. Climate change is to blame. The southeast gets hot because it's got the closest to a continental climate and is influenced by the heat from nearby Europe. 40C will probably be a regular occurrence (every 5 years or so) in the south by the end of the century.     Depends where they are. I think 36 max potentially 37. It looks like there may be some cloud now which may help prevent it getting any warmer

    If it is beaten I can't see it by being much. Winds will be from the north or east not the south after Friday and cloud coverage too.

    Started off with rain (not forecasted here). Humid and cloudy all day until now as sun is breaking out. Interesting to see google weather (weather.com) is now suggesting cloud tommorow for places like London and Essex.

    Where tf are we getting 36c for next week from? Weather forecasts not even in the 30s it looks more humid/tropical weather than dry heat. Forgive me but given that the models are changing from day to day just to make up their mind about this weekend if I'm taking anything beyond Friday with a pinch of salt
