Is there any science or big theory behind this “more berries in early autumn = harsh winter” thing? Seen it on here a few times last few years (not proving right a lot of the time, mind). Would be interested to read about it
And the trees are very full and green this year, but I’m putting that down to very very warm September

Really big flakes, crazy

Snow shield finally broken!

Nothing yet in Bromley there is a real snow shield going on...

Really seems to have held together this, can it get to Bromley Amazing pictures there, pretty unexpected

Anyone know whether that more organised area heading into Wales right now is on track as modelled? Or is it a bit further north...
-
Looks like a snowflake or two here even in Bromley, felt quite warmish in the sun and a coat a while ago...
-
Impressive snow here right now, does settle for a few moments

Was certainly a good surprise this morning, had some nice periods of snow in Bromley. Heavier than a quite a lot of the snow we had in that February spell

Think I see some flakes in Bromley...

Think I’ll call it a night here, should get some light showers through til morning. Maybe up to a cm if I’m lucky

Still back building in the estuary...

For a light blue on the radar, this is pretty good, big flakes

Hmm not great - intensity died again a few miles before me. Might be a pattern

Biggest flakes I’ve seen since Tuesday morning. It’s quite light - I think the intensity kind of died as it hit me. One behind looks better, if it stays on track...

I think another shower brewing towards the estuary mouth now possibly. Hope to see that and it reassures me there’s real potential...

Certainly is building as it goes to the estuary isn’t it... I don’t want to get my hopes up...

Looking at the radar I think south of london could be in for a shock
it looks to be intensifying and also back building
even for a couple of hours could drop a few cm
Ahh you’re making me stay awake dropping a teaser like that. Really hope you’re right

Would love the estuary to explode in to life now
I think for our area we just need enough time with wind through the estuary and we should see some getting going

Wow pretty good snow in Bromley right now. I’d say like 4/10 but roads going white again

Few flakes blowing around in Bromley. Hopefully the estuary fires up some showers soon because it looks kinda dry

At least I don’t need to worry about the snow settling if it’s nighttime, even if it’s not as nice as if it were in the day. Hopefully means I don’t need so much intensity, but let’s see if I catch any showers first

Hmm hard to tell I think the general consensus is for showers to ease through the night.
However, reports from Southend seem great with heavy snow and that's directly upstream from us in Bromley so fingers crossed!
We can hope

Looks like it won’t be long until SE London gets in on the action on the northern side of that convergence

People saying that a 2010 redux is on the cards… What looks so extreme about this that it would start that pattern (coldest Dec since 1890 or something)? Are the signs really similar to now? I’d love that to be true but surely we’d have to wait some more runs at least….
