  1. ChannelThunder Unstable sky today. At the moment, light shower with fairly large drops.
  2. September 1959 and 1960, very dry to very wet. April 1983 and 1984, very wet to very dry
  3. A Face like Thunder Also a spell of unusually thundery weather for so early in the year in April and a shockingly dull early August in southern England.
  4. What I remember about 2011 was that in every month from April to October, somewhere in Britain had its highest temperature of that year.
  5. Nick F Beautiful sunset here as well. Even though it is the very first day of February, there was a hint of spring in the air this afternoon when I was outside my house.
  6. At Pagham, I remember how quite dark and stormy it looked with yellowy and orangey coloured cloud, but there was only a light shower.
  7. Likewise myself as a primary schoolboy in Essex. I also remember walking to school with rather painful toes from the cold. The snow started lying on Boxing Day 1962 and never entirely disappeared probably until March.
  8. Happy new year to you all, and drier and brighter weather. There have been alot of sunless days in December here, even for the time of year, so I would think that it was a dull one.
  9. Distant thunder to south about 1/2 hour ago. Thought I heard hail when in church this morning.
  10. At nearly 6.30am on 6th February 2009, I was working at Larkhill, Wiltshire when I saw some distant lightning. The weather was wintry with all sorts of precipitation including snow and small hail. I don't know if that was the day you were thinking of, LetitSnow!.
  11. Is July 1868 eligible? If so, I would like to nominate it.
  12. I'll go for August 1911. That had the record high temperature at that time.
  13. According to the Met Office rainfall radar map, it would seem that for you at Egerton, precipitation occurred not far from midnight both before and after.
