  1. LATEST NAE: TOTAL ACCUMULATION Little change - totals perhaps toned down a bit to more achievable amount, however - 18/20cm up for grabs around here. Lynxus - I only found this out today - the NAE precip accum. charts are out way before the other charts.
  2. Perhaps some wishful thinking though from SM (I could be wrong)? After all he does live in... guess where... SE!!! Comparing the 21Z radar with the 21Z frame on here, the event is panning out almost exactly as progged so far, therefore I think we have every reason to be optimistic about what will happen in the next few hours. http://forum.netweather.tv/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=94015
  3. I think that area currently moving up from the south is going to start pushing West soon (it is starting too), and the ppt. will rotate anticlockwise round the area of low pressure placing the heaviest snowfall over Gloucs/Oxon/Berks as per the NAE charts. They are currently looking pretty close to the actuality.
  4. "Swathe say through Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire - that sort of area will be hardest hit!"
  5. SO hard to follow what is going on with this low to be honest.... So what we want is ppt to get north, so when it sinks south, we get hit! AH -- I was thinking, maybe we're slightly too far north but since it's progged to go south eventually then that's good. Probably. Anyway I'm off to do a C3 Maths paper and hopefully by the time that's done things will have "hotted up" somewhat.
  6. Seconded, windswept. Thanks very much Ian :-) Looks like it could be bullseye for Gloucestershire then. Do you know why there is no red warning from the MetOffice for Glos?
  7. "if I were a betting man, I would put my money on the largest accumulations over Salisbury plain, Cotswolds and the Chilterns by 12z tomorrow." Very light snow here now.
  8. Very snowy scenes in Gloucestershire at the moment, an exciting time! Here is a scene from earlier:
  9. Wow this is a very exciting situation - but potentially serious. Lovely earlier, I walked with my mum to my brothers' school, with our sledge and it was great seeing their delight at the snow, and they had great fun when we were pulling them on the sledge.
  10. Poor? That's a hell of an upgrade for Gloucestershire! We will be positively snowed under if this comes off... http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2010/01/05/basis12/ukuk/weas/10010700_0512.gif That has us under 20cm of snow!!!! Not stopped snowing now since 1130am this morning.
  11. The A40 through Cheltenham at the height of the snowfall
  12. REALLY pleased with one of my pics, going to send to BBC and see what happens, I think it captures the atmosphere and severity of the snowfall, and it was close to its height... will show you in a minute or too... uploading...
  13. Thanks very much for the updates, Ian! Total respect to you in these fascinating conditions giving very difficult forecasts, all the best. If you have the time, I'd like to ask - what kind of spot totals are we looking at for Gloucestershire? We have 5cm here already, and I've just been out to survey the roads. None of the local roads have been gritted, and the cars are moving very slowly on the main roads. I've got some pictures which I will upload here in a few minutes to give and idea of the conditions. The snow has eased off now but that heavy area of snow was over us for about 3 hours.
  14. How are things looking for Gloucestershire now? We are currently under the same area of snow and have been since about 1130... Does anyone know where the main event is coming from? Is it from the northern side or is it moving up from the SW?
  15. Gonna go on a walk again in a minute and survey the situation Will upadte you with this picture first though.
  16. Same here Dogs, isn't this incredible???!!! I've got a pic which I think captures the intensity, will upload in a moment.
  17. Looks to me like the SW is getting hit HARD at the moment!
  18. WOW hopefully Gloucestershire will get moved to red later! Up to 40cm!!!!!
  19. HUGE flakes here! Moderately heavy, covering on the ground already.
