  1. A nice bright, dry day with thin, high level cloud and a light breeze added to cool temperatures making a walk an attractive prospect for this afternoon. Temperature 4.1deg.C down from a maximum of 4.2deg.C at 12:20 and up from a minimum of 0.4deg.C at 00:55, humidity is 86%, wind 0 to 3mph north-northwesterly with a maximum gust of only 10mph at 00:40, pressure is 1033.2hPa steady, there's been no rain today nor in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8 but high and thin.
  2. A spectacular sunset providing a firey forest effect tonight.
  3. Beautiful morning with gin clear sky and frost on the grass; an ideal early Spring day. Temperature 10.2deg.C up from a minimum of -0.9deg.C at 06:23, humidity is 71%, no wind, pressure is 1035.3hPa falling slowly, there's been 0.2mm of rain apparently and the sky is effectively clear bar a couple of patches of high, thin, feathery stuff.
  4. Well yes, obvs, but one wouldn't interfere with one's Roller, would one? Please pardon my absence but I've been away doing some very naughty things. Nicola would not approve. Temperature 7.7deg.C down from a maximum of 8.9deg.C at 12:33 and up from a minimum of 5.5deg.C at 07:09, humidity is 86%, wind 0 to 2mph southerly, pressure is 1040.0hPa steady (a record high for this weather station), there's been no rain today nor in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 6/8 so although it's not currently sunny it is bright. A nice day to mark the end of Winter.
  5. No, but my younger daughter had one and I quite liked it. No, but I wish! The second most beautiful car design ever. We had one on the farm when I was learning to drive but it had a hydraulic semi-automatic pre-selector gearbox that meant I wasn't allowed anywhere near it. Phantom? Moto Guzzi 850 T4, wow, a serious bit of kit indeed, shaft drive and all. On the weather front - disappointing.
  6. A couple of years ago I rebuilt the Land Rover on a new galvanised chassis and treated it to new suspension and steering units. This year, as is only fair, I'm treating the comfy car to new performance parts for the engine and new struts for the air suspension. It's almost complete so I went up to Glasgow this afternoon to check on the work being done. I can therefore testify that the wind conditions are thus: southerly and strong, strong enough to make the northerly journey over the moor uncannily placid and the southerly one almost deafening in a soft top Land Rover. And very slow. Still, it was dry and bright, occasionally sunny, and altogether very pleasant to be out in. Temperature 6.7deg.C down from a maximum of 9.0deg.C at 13:35 and up from a minimum of 5.0deg.C at 08:07, humidity is 82%, wind has died away to nothing from a maximum gust of 16mph southerly at 12:00, pressure is 1027.5hPa rising fast, there's been 1.4mm of rain in the early morning and cloud cover has generally been around 3/8.
  7. Would one be right in thinking that the chance of imminent heavy snowfall is currently somewhat remote? Thought so. This place is about as busy as the EU stand at a Little Englander Convention. Still, nicer day today than yesterday; the ground is even drying up now. Temperature 9.4deg.C down from a maximum of 10.3deg.C at 00:12 and up from a minimum of 9.2deg.C at 04:14, humidity is 84%, wind is 3 to 5mph southerly, pressure is 1011.7hPa steady, there's been no rain today and cloud cover is 8/8 but thin enough to allow some brightness.
  8. The trees at the back are heaving about like a gang of fat lassies at a disco but there's been a lot less rain than anticipated. Temperature 11.1deg.C down from a maximum of 11.6deg.Cat 14:41 and up from a minimum of 6.2deg.C at 06:59, humidity is 87%, wind 5 to 10mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 29mph at 12:28, (it'll be higher but my back garden is well sheltered from the wind,) pressure is 1004.2hPa rising slowly, there's been 5.8mm of rain recorded today and cloud cover is 8/8.
  9. Something odd has just fired oot the lum of the cottage across the road...
  10. One of the villagers walked past the house this morning dressed in t-shirt and shorts, which was slightly on the brave side of sensible but it is a glorious day - sunny, dry and just a wee bit breezy. Temperature 9.2deg.C up from a minimum of 4.2deg.C at 07:57, humidity 70%, wind 3 to 7mph southerly with a maximum gust of 17mph at 12:03, pressure 1013.0hPa rising slowly, there's been no rain today nor in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 1/8.
  11. Today is as nice a late February day as I can remember in quite a while; bright, dry, bordering on warm even. Yesterday was far more typical of the breed; wet, windy, cold and miserable. Roll on Spring. Temperature 10.9deg.C up from a minimum of 6.5deg.C at 00:40, humidity is 71%, wind 4 to 7mph southerly with a maximum gust of 16mph at 02:06, pressure is 1005.3hPa rising slowly, there's been no rain today and cloud cover is 4/8.
  12. I had a 'meeting dinner' with my first girlfriend's parents and her father told me that he was going to get a car for his daughter, so I asked what kind of car and he said he was thinking about a Lada Riva. I said he could probably expect to get two Lada Rivas for her and (d'you know what?) neither of them laughed. Now that I think of it, he was the one who complained about me buttering both halves of my roll before loading it up with bacon. Cheapskate. Earlier talk of waterproof clothing compelled me to go out earlier for a walk in what has been constant rain. I have discovered a chink in my armour. (Shame on all those who immediately thought of something oriental.) My wooly gloves are not up to snuff and I can't find my Gore-Tex over-mitts. On-line retail therapy calls...
  13. I like wet. All types of wet, from moist to dripping. It comes from a long held appreciation of outdoor clothing, especially wet-weather gear. There's nothing (well, not much) better than being out in foul weather and being perfectly comfortable. Today is a full Gore-Tex day. Temperature currently 7.4deg.C up from a minimum of 3.2deg.C at 01:09, humidity is 91%, wind is 1 to 4mph southerly with a max gust of 16mph at 07:01, pressure is 992.3hPa steady, it's currently raining, has been all morning, with 6.8mm having fallen since midnight and 11.8mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 8/8.
  14. Sorry I'm late, I had to fight through the tumbleweed to get here. The story for this morning was one of sunshine and showers. Without the sunshine. The story for this afternoon is rain. Just rain. Temperature now is 5.4deg.C down from a max of 8.7deg.C at 03:27 and up from a min of 3.8deg.C at 09:10, humidity is 90%, wind 2 to 7mph southerly with a maximum gust of 17mph at 03:14, pressure is 992.4hPa rising slowly, There's been 8.0mm of rain so far and cloud cover is 8/8.
  15. So only the coughing bit eludes you? Excellent. Weather still nice here.
  16. Depends on your point of view. From my point of view you're third in the queue anyway. Don't hold your breath.
  17. A nice bright day again today with mainly high, wispy cloud letting through occasional sunshine. Even the slabs and decking at the back have dried out. Almost seems like spring, except I've seen the forecast. Temperature currently 8.1deg.C down from a max of 8.9deg.C at 13:58 and up from a min of 4.4deg.C at 01:21, humidity is 73%, wind 3 to 6mph moving from south-southwesterly to south-southeasterly with a max gust of 20mph at 14:04, pressure is 999.5hPa steady, there's been 3.8mm of rain today and 4.4mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 6/8 and mostly thin. Right, now I'm off on a ward round to visit Sanserit, Blitzen and Heilan Coo, so you lot, stand by your beds, lift you paper nighties, bend over and cough...
  18. It's all to do with timing of the 'going' element. As in current or historical. One might consider that historical is the more likely. Based on evidence seen here, well, historically. Or, more bluntly, the pair of you are as mad as a box of badgers.
  19. Need one suggest the obvious...? Temp got up to a max of 9.7deg.C at 15:28. Edging towards double figures.
  20. Brightened up at lunchtime following bursts of rain early this morning. Drying out nicely now. Temperature 9.4deg.C down from max of 9.6deg.C at 13:59 and up from min of 6.7deg.C at 02:59, humidity 77%, wind 3 to 6mph southerly with a max gust of 15mph at 02:19, pressure 1000.0hPa, there's been 3.8mm of rain today and the cloud cover is 8/8 but relatively thin so not a dull day.
