A number of weather models are forecasting the potential for torrential rain London eastwards as well as sufficient instability for lightning, especially east of London.

I agree this morning’s warning was always inappropriate but I disagree about this evening’s. I do think it might be overstating the westerly extent however.

They also forecast torrential rain for this morning but was nothing more than a downpour at best. The warnings are OTT and a p**s in the wind compared to what other countries go through.

A rumble of thunder and seems to be headline news in the U.K. Cringe…….

I'm not really seeing any substantial difference with the 9z UKV. The risk for me remains Kent and Sussex, perhaps E London and then into Essex and East Anglia. As much as I would love to see it substantially further west!

I’m not seeing anything substantial in risk area London eastwards.
it’s a very sad state of affairs that a warning is put out for thunderstorms for 1 clap of thunder - just look at this mornings warning. America must laugh at us.

The majority of Scotland is now on early warning with little rain forecast for the next few weeks.

Plus the largest wild fire ever recorded in the UK. Not sure where you've been.

One of the wettest countries in Europe and its panic mode because it hasn’t rained in 2 weeks.
I don’t get it, can only presume the Scot’s took their tops off to lobster up and whatever fires happened were human made, cigarettes etc.

The ground dampness/ air temp etc is simply not conducive for a natural fire at present in Scotland. Not sure where you’ve been.

Did i say London area? NO!! Its like i say the word rain and your red mist descends , the UK is not London, there is a world outside the M25,watch the news see the wild fires...record breaking wild fires. Areas of Scotland are in drought.

Drought? Scotland has suffered months of endless rain prior to the last 2 weeks.
Other countries must laugh at us.
Scotland has a few weeks of dry weather and temps of mid twenties (not even hot) and all of sudden it’s the Sahara 😆😆😆

Everyone feels temperature differently. When I first came to the UK from Jamaica it was August and I was shivering like in the cartoons, teeth chattering and all

I spent 5 weeks in Jamaica July to August and fluctuated around 34c. Flew back to the U.K. with 30c and felt humid and much more hot and sticky.

You must of landed in a freak cold August.

I think most of the doom and gloom on here is because there is an awful lot of people who live south of the midlands. Yes if you live south of midlands things are looking very bad at the moment 😂.

Looks great for Scottish continguent, they must be licking there lips at latest runs, not just that their haggis is ready!

Scotland gets snow? Groundbreaking that is…

Looks pretty dry bar the odd sleet/snow flake in Leeds as well before the mild air sweeps in.

Been saying it for days now but the initial northerly that was shown a few days ago was a very convective one with showers and features coming down the UK all over the place.

That has gradually been shortened and downgraded over the past few days, as we just don't maintain the flow long enough anymore before it goes all slack.

Good post. I remember only a few days ago that Tuesday was shown as LP/ disturbance running down from the north.
Away from Scotland and Eastern costal counties it looks very dry on this Saturday evening for next week
