  1. We often struggle with a northerly, sitting in that indent between Northumberland and Whitby / Scarborough they come straight down and miss us. If its a NE it is game on.
  2. Said this the other day in here, I wonder how many of our great / great great grandchildren will get to see snow in the region.
  3. Think you must be getting it better than most now NES, settling a little here in certain areas, could do with a good hour of solid thick flakes.
  4. Just looking at the radar again I am just hoping the heavier band doesn't slide below us, looks to be heading that way.
  5. Well if the radar is anything to go by then the main event is still to come in the next couple of hours, as you say though NES as long as it doesn't turn to sleet.
  6. Little dangly bit of the system over us currently, the main band is behind, which should be with you very soon. It's actually beefing up a bit now.
  7. The light snow has started, now bring on the main event, two or three hours of moderate snow, that's not too much to ask is it ?
  8. I notice Met Office has updated for today, now saying heavy snow changing to cloudy early evening and then a bit of light snow early hours. Here's hoping.
  9. That's the sleet coming then ! It has been pretty grey here most of the morning, even the radar has had us for light snow on a couple of occasions this morning but not had anything.
  10. There is a good dumping of snow in that system for somebody. Probably the pennines will gobble it all up and then spit it back out as sleet for us !! What time would we expect to see the system arriving if it did make it over.
  11. Similar, just got back with dogs, nowhere near as cold this morning, probably due to losing the northerly wind. Can't see anything other than a sleet to rain event, very rare we get anything white with systems from the west. But hoping I am proved wrong.
  12. Hopefully see some in the next day or two, even just a slight covering would likely stick around until the weekend.
  13. I aren't truly convinced by climate change ( though it is happening ) but is it a possibility that our our great or great/ great grandchildren may never witness snow.
  14. I can see my red car being white most of the week - unfortunately not with snow though but good to see that really cold air can still land with us
  15. Yep I agree, I have dogs and fields are abysmal, some hard frosts would in the least be nice. Yes the gold old 240 runs, 6 inches of snow and blizzards, by the time we get to the 72 runs it is rain or nothing. The met office are sticking to the potential blocking though and easterly/ north easterly, whilst they still have it in their forecast there is still hope.
  16. I agree Dave. For me winter ends at the end of Feb, when we are in March, lighter nights to around 6.30ish I want spring sunshine and warmer temps. But they do say snow at Easter is more common than Christmas.
  17. Met office already suggesting blocking again in Feb, further hints at Easterly/Northerly.
  18. Seems the met office has come up trumps again, you have to admire their ability to block out all the noise and ramps and stick to their guns, they did say very cold but predominantly dry across the country and after all the hype it seems to be heading that way. I will stick with their forecast Easterly/ Northerly for Feb as well. In the meantime crisp, very cold is still a nice to have, get rid of some of the many bugs doing the rounds.
  19. Met office also along the same lines, whether that happens or not ??? Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Brighter and much colder Sunday and Monday with sharp overnight frosts. Wintry showers fringing coastal areas. Potential for more widespread snowfall on Tuesday. Breezy at times with significant wind chill. Updated: 04:00 (UTC) on Fri 12 Jan 2024
  20. Met office in their update early this morning quoting potential for widespread snow for North east Tuesday.
  21. Congratulations, so you will have seen the changes then and i can possibly grasp what you are relating to.
