    Hadley Cell has moved slightly northwards in the last 30 years + 1c increase in sea temps in the last 100yrs has an impact on NW Europe

    Getting cold weather further south than the midlands from a northerly source has been an increasing frustration of winters in the last 20 years. Definitely a sign of climate change imo

    UKMO 168 suggests a short lived cold snap with snow showers for those exposed to the north west winds

    Completely agree with this. This has caught a few people out this winter but not the Met Office - they expected the recent climate warming to override any positive teleconnections

    Looks like we could be ending January as we started it with high pressure and mild air from the canaries

    GFS was predicting ice days for this week only a few days back. Reality 7c!

    GFS operational run is quite mild throughout especially for Scotland. A couple of cooler blips but nothing of note

    Not the best 12z so far. It looks dry and settled for England and Wales with temperatures around average. Scotland looks much milder after a brief cold snap and potentially a bit wetter. Could be looking at 12-14c for Aberdeen

    UKMO 12z showing a more unsettled outlook by 144hr especially for the northern half of the UK. This was mentioned yesterday by Louise Lear (BBC)

    BBC are going with the ECM which suggests the high slipping south east leading to more unsettled and milder weather from the west by day 8-10
