  1. You are correct, a wintry week ahead with snow for south and east especially. Will be interesting to hear Gavin Partridge thoughts later on
  2. Could see the first snow of the winter for those in the south east by Monday *if* the GFS 12z is correct.
  3. 6z is amazing for next week. Freezing cold winds, snow and blizzards. Bank!
  4. 18z predictably more in line with the European models now. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a colder run on the 00z though!
  5. The ECM has support from the UKMO. The GFS will be all change by 18z as usual in these circumstances
  6. ECM in line with todays update from the Met Office. Mainly settled and cold with a return to unsettled and milder weather by day 10.
  7. Not sure I would call it a cold high but I know expectations have been modified in recent years
  8. Says it all about the GFS model when we can't trust its output at day 6! Hopefully, this time it can be correct
  9. Not worth looking at the 6z until we see an improved ECM/UKMO and a better outlook from the Met Office 30 day forecast imo The Met office are expecting the high to stick around for sometime and slowly move south east to allow more unsettled conditions for the north west.
  10. 6z GFS continues the recent theme of a prolonged period of settled weather with varying amounts of cloud/sunshine. Temperatures around average for the time of year but maybe colder in central and south eastern areas of the UK for a time.
  11. They have been spot on since Christmas. They predicted the record warmth for New Year and last weeks cool down. Currently, they are predicting 5-7 days of high pressure.
  12. Reviewing the 12z UKMO, Operational GFS, ICON & GEM and in my view we are still at least 10 days away from any cold spell for the south. Maybe some wintry spells for the north at best. Grim times but the ECM later may offer some hope?
  13. My friends are reporting sleet and snow in Rome. They have more snow than the most of southern Britain these days. Something they didn’t expect when they moved there to teach English
  14. Decent for those living in Denmark and Germany. Nothing special for the UK and gone within 48hrs
  15. Looking at GFS and ECM cloud predictions suggests opportunities for sunshine and overnight frost for some locations especially from Wednesday onwards.
  16. ECM day 10 and also the GFS suggest a blast from the north. Looks good for the usual areas north of Birmingham.
  17. London is showing 7c to 9c all next week. I guess its colder than this past week
  18. The day 10 cold spell as shown on the GFS operational. Not shown on GEM 12z or ECM 00z so I would take with a large pinch of salt until at least the ECM 12z
  19. GFS offers some wintry weather in the usual spots (i.e. North of Birmingham) for a couple of days. A repeating pattern which started in November and has given us around 6 snowy days so not too bad
  20. UKMO is another 'wish it was summer' type of chart. I guess it is still way outside the timeframe from when some are expecting it to get interesting
  21. This makes it sound like a wintry week with cold weather to follow. I don't agree at all unless you class 5 to 7c as cold in January.
