Walking back from college, got a nice view of the showers and storms to the south of York this afternoon.

It ain’t until Monday/Tuesday but the ukv showing a really long squall line which looks interesting.

Not a bad storm for late October. Hailstones, gusty winds, torrential rain and a crack of thunder. Some mammatus on the back anvil as well when it left. FullSizeRender.mov IMG_6116.MOV

I don’t understand what they mean by a ‘mini-tornado’. It’s used all the time by the news and it just makes the event seem less serious than it is, despite the severe damage caused by this tornado in Calais.

I can confirm very distant lightning to my south. 80 miles away!

Heard one rumble of thunder today. I’ve never known an autumn having significantly more thunder days than the summer. Puts me at 6 days of thunder this autumn, compared to 1 day this last summer.

for now at least. It's showing an uptick in activity in the early hours across the north midlands, so I might set an alarm early and see what's going on, on the radar.

I forgot to post this (probably because it wasn’t that noteworthy). This is a squall from October 7th coming over the Doncaster area. You can see the defined line where the heavy rain starts. Was trying to check for any lightning potentially associated with it but there was none, just some decent gusts and a downpour. Might be it for this season for a while.

Just heard thunder

We’ve just been getting some much rain from like multiple downpours in a row, roads are flooding. Now we’ve got another storm coming from the north.

Must’ve had like 4 storms today. Admittedly they were quite weak and I didn’t see any bolts, just flashes, but quite a lot of thunder.

Currently at college and thunder is booming and making everyone scream
