How rare is that? There’s a condensation funnel above it so it’s either an actual supercell tornado/land spout, or I think it’s most likely a waterspout that came ashore. Probably to do with the comparatively warmer seas having an affect. Never seen any videos of a tornado in a snowy environment so I’m absolutely amazed.

When will we see the first thunderstorms of 2023?
Rufus Butterfield replied to Sunny76's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Earliest in the year that I’ve had a storm was late March 2016, on Easter. But I’d guess first good storms of this year starting mid May onwards. -
What did you think of autumn 2022?
Rufus Butterfield replied to East Lancs Rain's topic in Historic Weather
Good storms for the beginning of September. Had around 5 thunder days. Decent temps until the last week where it started to get a bit cooler than average. October was weirdly warm throughout the month, even seeing a distant lightning storm on the evening of the 23rd. Squally thunderstorm on the 30th. November was dull, mild and very wet. Interesting features were the temperatures being so mild for most the month, until the end of the month began getting cold into December. Surprisingly hardly any really windy days for the entire season. Overall I’d say it was better than average because of the warmer temps and convective activity. 7/10
