  1. I love seeing my street full of snow not others when this promised to be an east coast affair.
  2. I'd like to join the club as well. As having nothing more than a pitiful dusting with showers seemingly avoiding me (unless its rain) qualifies in my book.
  3. Next week? Today is Sunday the start of a new week. I hope things haven't fallen back further.
  4. Absolutely no snow where i live in Humberston. Seems we missed everything, maybe a flurry here and a flurry there in the last 48, but thats about it - aside from last nights rain-fest.
  5. I can see one of these showers hitting Grimsby between 1.45-2.00 - nothing more than a 5-10 minute affair.
  6. Just Before Dawn, yeah I distinctly remember that being a two-week affair. Exceptional winter which dwarfs anything that followed. I often read that 1993 was a good year for snow - I don't remember that being the case in Grimsby. I am certain there was snowfall that year, but I think it must have been too marginal in coastal locations because nothing stands out.
  7. When I was 10yrs old in January 1987 and living in Humberston and attending Humberston Comprehensive School we had a full week off school due to the 1 1/2 - 2 foot of snow that was dumped on Grimsby and the Villages. That was a very memorable experience of sledging nearly every day. I always remember that we kept the blue sledge in the garage after that winter - perhaps nearly 25 years later it was still in the garage all that time - eventually we got 2cms of snow so I dug it out and could push my nieces around on it (by that time I was hitting late 20s). LOL damn that makes me feel old I am only 33. Edit: When the roads got better that January, we took a drive out to East Ravendale. At that time it was a popular destination for sledging down the rolling hills there. Also there was no fence separating the hills form the roads - I bet nowadays there will be a fence up and everything for some pathetic 'health and safety' reason.
  8. I for one will be happy if they do verify and sure most of the board does; especially if I cannot get into work next week.
  9. Hmmm, yeah I can see that on the Radar.. interesting development. If the veers to a S then this region might just be in with a chance of seeing them showers filtering down from Southern Scotland - although I believe the chance is very slim.
  10. Lewis, why are u 100% sure? Whats the precipition like over on the North Bank?
  11. I think the marginality arises from the fact that most of this convection was formed over this side of the North Sea where SSTs are a tad higher. Where as the northern areas of the North Sea would appear to have lower SSTs - which would explain why them scattered showers currently coming down are snow-bearing. In other words the convection is over colder seas.
  12. Radar shows a lot of other areas in land getting rain also so I guess I shouldn't be too upset.
  13. Lol I can't believe I have watched an entire film (The Invention of Lying) and that band to our north has barely moved!! Nice to see the band has developed to the east.
  14. Mark, I am constantly surprised inland locations are talking about Sleet and problems with Dew Points given that coastal locations such as Grimsby and Hull are defaulting to great powder snow. Thawing is inevitable between the clouds and showers when the sun can get to work.
  15. Having looked closer at the chart Lewis, the colours although striking to the eye on first glance do in fact only show a general increase of 0.5c. I've saved that chart for future reference, great find. My trust in GFS mapping current conditions is very low to say the least.
  16. Lewis, yeah thats an interesting chart. Without commenting on GW, that does give a clear indication of why are winters are becoming increasingly milder. Most people would expect them warm anomalies to have gotten even more pronounced since 2002, personally I feel they will have stablised.
  17. Yeah I've noticed this and this is also true of rain showers. As for snow flakes sizes... I remember the final day that it snowed here last winter, one evening finishing work, we were very lucky and got an absolute pasting >10cm - of course didn't last long most had gone by the morning as a warm sector arrived overnight and thus winter ended. I digress, the biggest flakes I had ever ever seen. They were immense, everyone at work just stopped and looked outside in awe.
  18. Just taken the opportunity to look at current SSTs myself Lewis. In previous years I've seen lots of green anomalies (Unisys) at this time of year in the m-word winter. If we start seeing -2.0-1.5c anomalies in the North Sea or in the Baltic Sea I would be very impressed.
