  1. I remember earlier this year, can't remember the date (sadily, think it was during March) our last day of snowfall here in Grimsby. Lots of places in the region missed out completely, this particular evening during rush hour were the most unbelievable size snowflakes I have ever seen. At the time I was still at work and we just stopped what we was doing along with the manager and just looked in awe at the flakes. About 30 minutes later we headed off home; not far just to Humberston. Within seeing these flakes falling on and off for around an hour I arrived at home and there was a good 10cms. Sadily, after it stopped snowing a warm sector crossed us and overnight melted by the following morning everything was again green and no sign of the winter wonderland we had the night before. Gutted.
  2. Evening all, Just arrived in Louth, I am Djing at an Xmas Party at Kenwick Park and when I left Grimsby at 6.30 light snow was falling. In the last 20 minutes its begun snowing heavy; looks like very picturesque. I was here last night driving back home to Grimsby, the A16 had the minimal amount of gritting done to it and looks like another crazy drive home at 1.30 through yet more heavy snowfall. Must have seen a good 5-10cm during Friday, hope to see more when I return. Reading the last few posts I hope it won't turn to rain here; personally I can't imagine that to happen especially as the temperature has remained below zero all day I set to be another freezing night.
  3. Another 5cm wow.. thats is great! We already have over 5cm thats will be a nice bonus. Can't imagine there would be any rain in that band; GFS forescast says its already -4c here.
  4. I just took at look at meteox.co.uk, doesn't show much hope to me unless the wind changes drastically.
  5. Looking likely that it will all miss us. Don't have premium netweather service here either. Is there any more coming across the North Sea into the wee hours?
  6. Whereabouts in Grimsby are u GSL? In Humberston here, already have a good dusting. And yes after all the hype - missing out yet again.
  7. I won't say we missed out altogether SUFC... must have 0.25 cms outside. Impressive!!
  8. This mornings forecast showed the showers in the South never reaching us; in fact they stalled and turned back. We are just getting piddily showers from the ENE.
  9. Looking nice and white in my locale, if only the showers would keep going for longer than we really would have a nice covering. Very gusty outside so I guess drifting would occur if we did have continuous snowfall. But for now nothing more than a generous dusting... and the added bonus is no sleet or hail. Locale: Grimsby..... how come I can't see Locales today and I can't change my profile? Well correction; I can in a roundabout way.
  10. Can't see the moon must be around the other side - seems to be a bright sky, is it a full moon tonight?
  11. Well considering last night started at like -2c and rose through the evening - waking up to no frost. Tonight's temperature is tropical.
  12. I am certain during the summer of 2007 whilst I was working overseas in Greece; Hull was 'devasted' by torrential rainfall. BUT on the other hand.. yeah the snow is ours.. go away Gravy haters.
  13. Evening, Actually the cold weather was hyped up to be on Monday... or did we all forget last week? I'll believe it (the snow) when I see it as it constantly gets pushed back.
  14. It was only about 3 years ago that Grimsby right on the East Coast never rose from its night-time of -5C. I am sure these kind of temperatures happen more often then we think/we record.
  15. I was hoping someone could shed some light on a question of mine. The 7 day forecasts that NetWeather has available through the mainpage. What model are these based on? They are always wrong. Take the last few days foreinstance always forecasted to be 9c max, never more than 6c locally. Today was progged for 9c, max was 5c. As for today's weather near Grimsby, a couple heavy rain showers earlier, now there is light snow blowing around in the air.
  16. Well I can confirm at a glance out the window its still over 5cm here in Humberston - no sign of melt, I think maybe your imagining it ah well night
  17. Well am sure the local council will be busy tonight, sure didn't look they have gritted for a few days. All the B roads are getting covered quickly despite the rush hour traffic! Ps. I wonder if we sold our salt and grit to them southern softies
  18. Ah true, but up until now we (Grimsby, excluding 'just a mile down the road') have barely seen any of the 'white stuff' aside from a dusting last monday. So I think we were long overdue 'our turn' !
  19. I am a fan of the 16-day outlook and I can't see any 'worryingly' Mild temperatures at all throughout the run. Sure its slightly warmer - but I don't call 7c 'Mild'. Will this unexpected snow cover across Eastern parts of the UK play any part in slowing the warmer air moving in?
  20. Anyone witness the SHEER SIZE of the flakes that feel as this moved into the Grimsby area around 1pm? I have never ever ever seen such flakes the size these were - size of 50p coins these were simply huge! Soon after it went light again - then for a short period sleety. From around 4pm up until now its been snowing heavily - its beautiful out there must be 10cms in places! This was completely unexpected!
  21. In answer to the thread title.... doesn't apply to me! Barely seen any... just a dusting. Not fun. And I don't really understand why the question is being asked - probably by the mild lovers. 99% of forum members have been waiting for years and years for decent snowfall - can't complain now its here. ;-)
  22. So here in Grimsby we got a feeble amount on Monday and really don't understand why it keeps turning into wet snow and sleet :/ What's the chance for the coastal towns over the new few days and weeks? Been very very disappointing so far and its annoying seeing the rest of the country enjoying the snowfall!
  23. Well I try to understand the lingo, but ultimately when I read its gonna snow today at my postcode on a website like this, huge amount of discussion, BBC maps showing between 5-30cms of snow predicted, lots respected members saying its a dead-cert I can't help feeling disappointed somewhat. Sunday nights forecast - continous snowfall - accumulations. Monday day - few snow showers in the morning, becoming heavy by the evening and overnight. What actually happened - kept waiting and waiting - it snowed for 10 mins, wait wait wait, 10 more minutes of snow, dry for 6-7 hrs (or very light snow) whilst I sleep. Wake up Monday morning where the flip is this deep snowfall as forecasted to batter the east coast. I arrive at work 8am, look at outside its snow again, yay its getting heavy - it must settle - thinking *we must just have been unlucky over*. 20 minutes later - OMG why isn't it settling? Why is it thining and getting light? Couple hours later, gee I don't care anymore as I turn to the window and its turning to rain - even though its approaching 4pm and the sun is thinking about going down for the night. Fair enough, just a little ticked off... About this Mild Sector.. I could have sworn I read it was arriving on Tuesday?
  24. Well once again the news shows places with loads of snow and ridiculous headlines like 'greatest snow fall in 20 years' and yet still even though the forecast said 100% chance of snow it turned to sleet and then rained! And even when it did snow it was just fine crap that takes 505 years to accumulate - the odd burst of heavy flakes. Ultimately I disappointed - I knew I should have ignored the forecasts and paid more attention to the actual SSTs here on the coast.
