Absolute novice here and long term lurker. Always come out of the shadows this time of year and wanted to say a big thanks to all posters and I have nothing but full admiration and respect for the knowledge here. Can't remember a time when actually excited about the weather going into Christmas, probably bar December 2010 when we had snow here in Sussex a week before Christmas. Whilst a White Christmas would've absolutely been a magical event that would've taken the edge off slightly what has been a rough couple of years for all, if we get a bit of sustained cold spell with some of the white stuff into the new year, I'd take it. I was hoping for another blue sky, crisp Christmas Day like last year.
There's just something about this thread in winter. Maybe because for me snow is such a rare event these days and much of my fondness for it is locked in childhood memories, but I when winter comes around I live in such hope that we get some snow, as nothing beats a snow day and it actually for the most part brings out a bit of playful happiness in people.
Apologies if I have gone off topic. Just wanted to give a shout out to the posters on here and even now I am still trying to educate myself on the complexities of weather forecasting and reading models. But man that low pressure system, what a dream killer it is
